    My Mc Affee is up for renewal and I was hoping to find out from you lovely people what the current Anti Virus of choice is?

    I am on the whole pretty happy with Mc Affee, I like the way it will monitor yout network and stuff. However one thing I do wish would be made part of it was a good malware scanner... I find Mc Affee dosen't get rid of anything, Spyware Doctor still Picks up loads of stuff...

    So what are people using, does a good all in one solution exisit, also I'm in england if this makes any difference to what software is avaliable...

    Thanks people!

    I'm suprised McAfee don't link Antispyware into VirusScan like they do with the enterprise product...

    McAfee is pretty bad. If you are ready to pay, I'd recommend Kaspersky, or Norton 2009 if non-techy people will also use it. If you want to go the free route, you might want to check Avira.

    If you're after a good malware scanner (however, one that's separate) I can recommend Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware.

    Paid security suite wise, I like AVG, but Bitdefender works well, and Norton 09 is simple but apparently good this year (for once).

    NOD32? I've never heard of it... Thanks for the suggestions guys I'll have look into them...

    Do you think there is a lot of difference in terms of support between Paid and free Antivirus?

    Your ignorance, I'm afraid. It's usually in the top 5 AV along with Kaspersky and Norton. NOD32 does very well at finding brand new viruses (before the various AV producers have incorporated them into their definition updates) but it's not quite up with the best for real-world use or I might use it.

    Do the month trials of KAV and NOD32, see how you like the interfaces. KAV and the full KISS security suite are usually available at bargain prices from Scan, Amazon, et al.

    I was for NOD32 aswell before, but now I've started to hear complaints about it not finding all threats. So I'd still say Kaspersky.

    I've always liked Comodo's software and they've introduced a package that combines everything they had (Firewall, Malware, Virus Protection) into a free package known as Comodo Internet Security, which is 100% free.

    Also I didn't realize this but Comodo is now offering "Comodo Internet Security Pro", it comes with the following features.

    * Firewall Protection
    * AntiVirus Software
    * Proactive Security
    * TrustConnectâ„¢
    * PC Tune Ups
    * Virus Removal
    * Software Installation
    * 24-7 Support

    for about $39.99 (USD) a year.

    Right I'm downloading the ESET Home Security package trial, looks promising from what I've heard about it so will give it a try for 30 days, seems a reasonable price for two licenses too considering the package...

    Yeah NOD32 is good value for money. I bought a 3 year license ages ago and totally forgot about it, so I didn't use it for the middle year :wallbash:

    Mc Affe? lol.. I hope the Affe was intentional as Affe is german for Ape... kinda fits them.

    Just to throw in another argument why you should not stay with them, they fired the staff in their uk support teams (for private people, the corporate support remains in the uk) and moved away.

    ha, didn't notice my spelling mistake, but then i can't spell to save my life...

    I'm liking ESET Smart Security so far, the interface is really good and the scan seems pretty quick, we'll see after the full month though how it feels...

    I used Trend Micro for years and Years, till i used i think 2008's version, and i started having issues regarding my Firewall, and so i got fed up with it.
    I now use Avira, and it does the job well. Safe browsing goes along way though.
