    Hey,

Just benched my new system, here are the specs...

    XP2000+
    Gainward GF4 MX460

    I only scored 5811!

    This sounds pretty lame?

    What you guys think?

    Assuming you mean 3d mark?

That sounds about right. The GF4MX is nothing more than a trumped-up GF2MX and is soundly beaten in 3dmark by the GF3s.

However, remember that 3dmark is a partially synthetic benchmark, and so the results really don't mean as much as many people would like to have you believe. The only relevant parts of the test are the frame rates in the game demos. The scores for the various other tests are inconsequential.

I second what Issac says... just to give you a frame of reference... I get a score in the nieghborhood of 7440 with a Geforce 3 Ti 200 running at 200/460 oc. Stock speeds, I get around 5500 etc. That is running 3Dmark2001 SE btw.

Icecube why did you buy a mx460 instead of a 4200ti ? the 4200 are only a few quid more and vastly better.

Should have opted for a cheap ti 4200. Much much quicker.

With my Ti4400, I get 10250 and it runs everything I can throw it absolutely flawlessly.

    :D

have you tried gta on high resolutions? I have a friend who has to run it on 1024x768 and he has an overclocked gainward gf4 ti600. Otherwise there is a bit of slowdown during periods of intense graphics.

well, i payed £135 for it, the reason i got the MX is because im not a gamer, so i was more going for the features of the Gainward.

    You're not a gamer....so why didn't you buy a G550? Far better image quality...

And why do you care about 3d mark, "The Gamer's Benchmark"?
