Oh man I'm a happy unit right now. I had forgotten how good a good monitor is. And mine is good. A looooong time ago, I set out to make all my peripherals black to match my case. Speakers, check. Mouse, check. Viewsonic 20" monitor, uhhhh whoops. I disassembled it, painted it up nice with vinyl dye and fubared it putting it back together. I've been using a crappy b0rken 15" for months because I've been too slack to confront fixing this monitor. Maybe it was the shame of having b0rked a perfectly good monitor by carelessness. But all that's behind me now. I had to swap out the power switch and extend the leads, rework the solder on a couple caps that came off the circuit board, and generally remember how to put this thing back together again. Good thing I saved all the screws in a zipper bag. Here's what I had to work with: And now: Oh and its a great monitor. Even though it's four years old it still looks sharp and bright. Damn I'm happy. That's all.
You better hose down that scanner and antique keyboard 8P~ And looks like ya been so busy surfing/gaming ya wore the dye off ya mouse! LOL. And is that a card reader sitting on ya case? How's the move coming along? Once your house is empty you can use it for a giant painting booth.
Nice. I tell you, the thrill of getting a mod done right is NOTHING compared to the thrill from knowing that you DIDN'T kill something you thought you had. Good salvage job. Still, now that I have my flat screen (not flat-PANEL) ViewSonic, I'll never go back to a curved one. It's a world of difference.
its his l33t modded purple-button case think its made by foxconn or something in US (directron has them)... i got one from watford if ur in the uk... they're a good little case and theres plenty of stuff on them at linears website http://www.directron.com/cs-mid-pur.html oooh linkage too btw nice job linear - ur kid on the monitor?
Its always nice to get a beloved friend back up and running again As UnLoadeD says... u just need to give the periprials a quick hose down!
Yeah, fubaring the monitor really made me lose momentum. But now it's painting weather once again, so my scanner, cardreader, beloved IBM model M keyboard and HP loserjet will all get the 'black is beautiful' threatment. I can't figure out how to get that dang cardreader apart though. Here's what he case used to look like:
