Another video clip showing some of the desert environment as well and some combat.... and people taking photos
Looks awesome, haven't played a good mech game in ages. Saying that there hasn't been a replacement for the Mech warrior games, and I don't this will fill that hole. I really enjoyed the First AC game, they seemed to have gone down hill since that one.
Greetings! Problem I am seeing with all this footage is the fast pace. MechWarriors were more slow paced.
Hey JC can you post in the "I hate the person above me because game" thread, I think I have the Because part sorted.
Don't worry, you're not alone! Okay, so they didn't suck but they're certainly nothing compared to the superior Armored Core games. Also, anyone else excited for the Zone of the Enders HD remake?
New news http://venturebeat.com/2012/02/06/meteor-games-to-publish-high-end-online-game-hawken-exclusive/ No longer inde. Closed beta ETA 12.12.12 Enlisting beta: https://www.playhawken.com/?ref=uibnmq97
I got my name reserved now thanks, the more you get the more rewards you get when the game is established
Haha. Seriously though they had a great aesthetic and backstory but I never found one that was any good to play. :| I am all over the HAWKEN beta though.
Signed up for the Beta, looking forward to this! Let's hope the freemium model works out for it as well
Mech Warrior 2 was epic but that was admittedly back in my DOS days. The later ones were OK but just didn't grab me as much as Heavy Gear and its sequel. I've actually just popped my Heavy Gear 2 disc in the drive and am going to try and get it to run on Windows 7. I've signed up for the Hawken beta as well, here's hoping it's even half as good as promised by the cinematics!
Good luck with that. I couldn't get my version of it running reliably whatsoever - It seems to be very specific in what version of DirectX libraries it has access to and I couldn't get it to play without crashing out every few minutes under W7 64-bit; regardless of any compatibility settings or hackish DLL workarounds. If you get it working, let me know! As for MechWarrior vs Hawken... I can completely understand the people who saw "Mech Game" being disappointed by what Hawken is turning out to be - I cringed when the developers mentioned 'Halo' as their biggest gameplay influence in an interview - But being disappointed that it isn't a slow, plodding simulation is a bit like being disappointed that Battlefield 3 isn't ARMA. They're just different games with thematic similarities. Personally I'd love to get my hands on a new simulation-style Mech game and thus can't wait to see how Mechwarrior Online turns out, but I'm still signed-up and looking forward to Hawken. I think it'll be fun and the art & sound direction make it worthy of a go already to me.
