Peripherals Mechanical Keyboards

I've still been getting deliveries from my postie, got my parcels of parts and even the Parcelforce dude came yesterday with some bits. Alex, let me know if you do not get it tomorrow, I will see if I can do some research into it.

I have today returned to stock caps on my Cherry work board. Who else fancies joining me in returning to stock? I'd forgotten how much I love sc00pz, yo! haha!

 

Which ones are they? I'm using the stock white on black (Cherry) POM on my Poker at the moment... they're pretty naff. POM feels hard and kind of greasy, and the lasering looks bad, feels bad and is very worn after only months of use.

 

These are the stock ones from my 3494, but I dishwashed them, and they feel nice now. I quite like the black POM caps though. I understand what you mean about a slight 'greasy' feeling, but I found that went after a good old clean.

How are the legends holding up on yours?

I found they feel pretty nice on the 3494; the PCB mount and big floppy case give each keystroke some resonance. Put them on a plate mounted poker though and they're tinny and unsatisfying. The stock poker PBTs feel great on either board, as do all the ABS caps I have in varying thicknesses. Weird huh.

 

I have keyboard destroying fingers - I put decent shine on my work keyboard during the first week of it being here, CM stealth caps.

 

My Model M still looks good as new, so it's just crummy lasered caps and maybe ABS I need to be careful of. That said, some ABS looks good with a bit of shine, e.g. Round 5. It adds a vintage aesthetic.

EDIT: Just noticed Keypop are running Coffee 2.0 and it ends on Monday. The Cherry legends are drawing me in, but I'm managing to resist thus far due to the price, which works out almost double what I've paid for Toxic due to import costs.

 

Everyone is right blues are awesome for typing. That's right I got one of them boards I asked about, don't look at me. The caps are alright enough, but the space is wrong.

 

The legends are looking great - they were a bit full of crap pre-dishwash (they are recessed slightly) but a good clean sorted that out no problems.

I have clears on this board and the lack of plate and the lovely clear springs gives it a smashing feel. I hated them on red switches though - I just didn't like the feel. Reds were OK-ish with Hyperfuse on, but then I don't like reds!

 

I like the coffee set, but, I don't really want to buy any more keysets I am waiting for so many to arrive, and we are always working on new keysets, I don't really have the space. I do love the cream and brown though.

 

Recessed? Must be a different set to mine then, they're very very raised, to the point of being annoying!

 

I am currently using 95.61% stock caps on my boards. Sadly that is exactly the accurate figure
