I was looking for this as well, couldn't find anyone but the shipping from WASDkeyboards via USPS was only $3.78 so I've gone with a set of 50A rated ones from them. Grabbed a couple of blue key caps for Esc and Space while I was at it.

I'm gertting odd looks in the office at the moment as although I'm making lesss noise than with my normal keyboard it does seem to carry further when the keys bottom out. I dread to think what it would be like if I'd bought a clicky one!

If anyone is making an order from elitekeyboards/wasd, then please let me know, wouldn't mind splitting shipping costs and getting some custom keycaps :) (if it would be cheaper)

Someone in the UK obviously :p

Postage is really good from the WASD site.

Oops, sorry George! I should have thought of asking if anyone else was planning on ordering from there as well :duh:

There is a word of warning from the WASDkeyboards site if you pick the cheap postage option - you can't track it and you're not insured. It does jump up quite rapidly too, a full set of caps is over $10 for postage. Fortunately they have an on the fly calculator for that but egads does the price jump if you go for one of the insured, trackable routes - $37 instead of $10, ouch!

Don't forget about the import duties/VAT either. I believe that you get a £40 limit before having to pay the extra 20% but I'll find out when I get either a package through the post or a letter from HMRC.

Don't worry about it, was only today I started thinking about getting a couple of things from them :)

And MSHunter, if you want info about mechanicals, I'd advice geekhack/deskthority over ocn.
But I only new to the game so to speak, lysol will no doubt give better advice :p

And I swear half of the stuff in that OCN thread is from the geekhack wikis (or maybe it's the other way round?)

Yeah just trying to spread the knowledge would love to copy it here but I'm not sure the rules would allow it :( Will have a look at those cheers for the info.

Oh, that ocn guide is fine for a primer. If you need more detailed info, then head over to geekhack/deskthority once you know what you are looking for. The wikis there are not quite as beginner friendly. A lot of them are very detailed and might be overwhelming, jumping into the deep end.

Was wondering if anyone can recommend me a mechanical key for around £80? Been looking at the Corsair K60 and the Steelseries 6Gv2 keyboards.

However, the poor printing of the keys on the SS and the membrane keys on the Corsair K60 are kind of putting me off. However, the K60 is kind of edging it as it seems to be getting good reviews.

have you ever used a mechanical keyboard? I nearly bought the K60 but now I know that I could not handle having a mixture of keys.

If you want to pick something up relatively cheap I would join either Geekhack or Deskthority and ask in the marketplace, once you know what switch you want you may well be willing to splash a bit more on it!

I would have to try the K60 before buying as I really can't see how the rubber domes and mechanicals can live side by side.

Full size, tenkeyless, mini? Are you willing to use ANSI or ISO? Interested in light or heavy switch? Does your budget have any flexibility?

^All of this in spades! I used to use an IBM keyboard back in the day (all be it a Swedish layout rather than UK) and I've grumbled ever since about how crap the average keyboard is without ever doing something about it. I've finally got around to getting a keyboard that equals or betters everything else. You will prise it out of my cold, dead hands and I reckon I'd take a few with me using the keyboard alone - this thing is built! In case of zombie apocalypse, disconnect keyboard from computer and apply repeatedly about the head. Then resume typing after reconnection.

Switch selection is probably a touch more personal. I'm loving the browns on my keyboard, reckon I might like blues even more but the additional click would most likely drive everyone around me nuts. I expect that it's simply because I'm such a ham handed muppet that I get a low ringing sound from the keyboard while I'm using it. O rings on order, I'll try and record a before and after video for that if only for my own purposes of determining whether or not it makes a noticeable difference.

trigger said it best - "once you go clack you'll never go back"! I don't type any faster but I do make a whole different range of typos as the keyboard is too responsive rather than lagging behind what I'm hitting it with.

@Ficky: Not in my price range at the moment but I'd like to try one eventually. I'm loving the tenkeyless layout, the additional desk space is well worth it. I did have an issue when I took the keyboard to work for a full test as I honestly hadn't realised how much I actually used the keypad but it didn't take me long to forget about it.
