    OH IT'S ON! :D

I see the offer of two japan caps and raise you two RoW 1.25 mods from the Klaxon groupbuy, previously unused:

In fairness, the red might be a little darker so it's your call.

I have some blacks and/or clears I can spare, all out of browns though.

Hi, just after some advice, I currently have a Coolermaster TK with black switches.

I like the action of them but I'm after something that requires a bit less force, would I better with Red or Brown switches... or something else entirely.

Also would like it to be relatively quiet.

I like browns, reds I find too light given they have no tactile bump on them at all. Red's I also type on very loudly as I find it very difficult not to bottom out my stroke, thus there is a lot of noise from bottoming out the keys.

I think you should look at getting browns, I think they are ace. I didn't used to, but recently they have become my switch of choice.

Thanks, I have been looking at browns just because of the videos I've seen. Do you have any specific board recommendations?

Quickfires are decent enough, Duckys are also pretty good. Filcos are nice but don't have a lot of the features of the less expensive boards so can't really justify their higher cost all that much anymore.

Yea I like the price of the Coolermaster boards but I don't like their branding, just want a completely plain board, I'm a bit weird like that!

If you want completely plain, pick up a Ducky DK2108 Zero with browns. It'll cost you about £70, but it's just about the most vanilla looking budget mech (if you can call £70 budget).

If you can stretch into the £100 and up range there are a few more options with better build quality and materials, but you'd have to be an enthusiast to move into that realm. Unfortunately my recommendation for vanilla at this price point is the Ducky G2 Pro, which I believe has gone out of production.

If you can find a CM Rapid without branding (and can live with TKL) then they are really nice boards.

I think their "stealth" range are relatively branding light, the branding is a common complaint but is a load better than it was when they first came out!

I think Ducky have/had a pro range that was relatively low key, might be worth checking out as well.

you can get them - those aren't official cherry tops, they are repros, I don't know where you buy them as I have never bought any people just send them to me with their stuff.

Gateron switch GB - https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=68943.0 some people think this switch might be a cherry mx beater.

It's really the dark grey sliders that make the clear switch tops and stickers stand out that much. I think I want to try out ghost blacks (or whatever you call clear springs with black sliders) on a next board.

As for the clear switch covers: Various Group Buys and Techkeys had them.

Have you tried any of them yet Matt?

I'm interested in picking up 120 for an upcoming project but I can't be arsed to join GH just to enter the group buy and then never post again. If anyone's in, drop me a PM - I'll cover all costs.

I'll be dipping in for a boards worth I guess just to try something different. Not sure what flavour to go for just yet though, I'll need to do a bit of research but I'll probably plump for either the clears or the blacks.

edit - I'm going in for 100 clears and 100 browns.
