Sack that 60% malarky. I'll be lucky if i survive the mental challenge of not having a number pad without turning into a dribbling wreck.

The rapid-i does look pretty snazy with the programmable backlighting. Could look pretty fit with white caps and red led covers. Anyone know a good place for caps and especially the colour changers? can only find places that sell a random assortment and not a set of one colour.

EDIT: Forget the fancy Daydream LED covers. Can just do this but with some red acetate for better results. But now i can't decide on white caps with red LED or red caps with the white LED. Haven't even got the thing and already wanting to upgrade it. :hehe:

Right some advice needed. I need to test out mech keyboards. Reading up I think I would need browns. I have tried blues in a shop and far too noisy.

I need a keyboard with spare keys that I can program to type a string with (I code much quicker that way) . I currently use the G keys on my G510.

Backlit would help too. If anyone has a testing kit witht the different switches I could borrow i would be grateful.

Can anyone recommend a key board I could do all that with ?

    I don't want much do I.

    ... and a budget of £20 ;)

It's a lovely board - absolutely perfect for me - and I went with Browns. I only need a numpad very occasionally at home, and I have a Goldtouch pad for that (also with Browns).

From a typing feel perspective, MX Blues are excellent, but I find the noise too distracting, and Browns fit the bill very nicely for me. I have them on both of my main boards, and I'm in the process of swapping out the Panda Clears on my G80 for Browns too.

over your budget with MX blacks. No backlighting but you've set a low price limit ;)

Either the CM Strom Trigger Z (£100) or Corsair K70 RGB (£160) would be your best bet, both available with browns.

Can stick £160 where the sun don't shine but that Trigger Z looks OK. I've bought a car for less than that £160 !

I repeat: GeorgeK, Jinq-Sea, Margo Baggins, Shirty. :D Thats FOUR, Not THREE. :D

@GMC: Nice find that! The Space Bar is a bit too big IMO but we can't have it all our way. :hehe: Got to admit, quite like the layout.

I once bought a car for £50. I ran it for two years, without problems. It wasn't pretty and it sounded like it ran on coal, but it was a dependable old lump.

    Which one is dogtanion?

I bought a car for £1500, had to spend a lot repairing it over the next three years then nobody would buy it so I had it scrapped. Should have asked you guys for advice, clearly!

Trigger-Z is awesome board. Way better than the Corsair. it's 100% programmable.

I bought a car for 300 quid 2 and a bit years ago and it's cost me 1500 in repair since then. I don't know what this analogy is.

Margo's back! Was getting worried about you there dude.

Also, I had a £400 Mondeo that lasted years (I think 3 MoTs), spent basically £0 on it (a few lightbulbs went and I got a new set of tires, but they don't count). Best car I ever owned, really sad when the clutch went and the Mrs wanted to upgrade. I even got £50 scrap for it :D.

It was the best car pound for pound I ever bought for £150. It was 13 year old E30 316 BMW. Front wing was rusty, door lock broken and wipers didn't work. Wipers was fixed by a relay pinched from a scrappy, door lock needed the mechanism taking out, reconnected and put back in and the wing could stay rusty. Had it two years, did over 25k in it and all I ever replaced was the tyres once. Straight through two mots and sold it 2 years later for £250 :)

So £160 on keyboard is never gonna happen :)

anyone know of a decent budget keyboard, probably mx blacks.

my laptop doesn't do N-key roll-over, so want a cheap keyboard for it. I like blacks (on my steelseries 6gv2) though haven't really tried any others.

(amazon has cheap zalman with mx-red clones, not sure what rep the Kailh switches have)
