Why not keep it as a backup, backup, backup board? :D From what I heard they were actually quite nice to use!

Dell AT101W usually go from $5-20 depend on condition. The older winkeyless with blue switch can be worth more. If you are just going to toss it I am sure someone would give it a good home, they are a good board to try out Alps. Might as well let someone have it for cost of postage then...

it doesn't take any time at all, there is no "getting used to" period regarding typing feel, only if you go for a different layout

    step 1: get mechanical keyboard
    step 2: type on it

    simple as that really

Well, not neccessarily true. If coming straight from domes to MX blues for example it could seem quite alien and may take some a bit of getting used to. There is a very huge difference in typing feel there going from stale gummy bears to retractable pen clickers... lol.

True... I went from dome to black and it felt just much better quality rather than anything els.
I swear a lot of people I know that like blues only buy them because they make more noise. haha.
Id recommend going blacks or browns and you wont have a problem with it feeling all alien!

It took me about 3 days to adjust to my Filco, I am still getting used to the HHKB layout after a month!

It's a very different typing experience, I find it hard to type on rubber dome boards now.

IMO Is there an amount of time when you feel typing is weird or unusual or that you need to adjust to it? Not at all, regardless of switch type it isn't like any mech switch will require more force than a rubberdome that you need to get used to or anything like that.

You type and notice how much better it is, and that is pretty much all. No adjusting needed. No need to train yourself to type a certain way or anything, no period of discomfort inbetween.

Yes there is, it took me a few days to adjust to the actuation of the switch and I still struggle to go back to rubber domes. It's the same when switching between MX switches to me.

In my opinion of course ;)

you had to adjust to the actuation? I just typed, did you feel uncomfortable before getting used to it? Was it a period of difficulty?

And he's not talking about going back to rubber domes, he's talking about how long it takes to adjust to a mechanical after he jumps the bandwagon the first time.

It took a couple of days yeah and it the same as going back, they are both different and take time to adjust to.

Alright, thanks for the info everyone. As mentioned, I've read up a lot about all the different key switches in order to see which one will be the most suitable for me. In the end, I decided to go with the cherry reds since they say it's really good for gaming (I'm not too bothered with the clicky feedback also from the other ones) - so that's a Corsair K60 inc! :)

Errr that is a mix of rubber domes and mechanical switches.

Rip off at that price point!

mmhm yeah, that's the only the 'con' about the keyboard from what I saw, but I really like the quality control and everything about Corsair, so I guess I was drawn to that a bit.
