Blues have an issue with how they return due to the two piece design, this causes issues during frenzied tapping, you can miss keys much easier on them. Whereas browns and others are a one piece giving you a better indication of keystroke position allowing you to double tap with much more confidence and accuracy.

Don't get me wrong, blues are fantastic for typing and are fine for casual game play, but in a serious match of zombie killing, blues really are about the worst thing you can use. Browns end up being about the best middle ground as far as Cherry switches go as they have good feedback for typing and a solid feel.

I didn't think it was a big deal until I started to really compare the gaming experience to my other keyboards.

Cherry Browns have the feedback and the actuation point is the same as the reset point. Once you have learnt how hard to press a key you can easily spam it in game. If you look at the GIF and force diagram below then you can see why blue switches aren't "the best" for gaming as the release point is higher than the actuation point.

I've gamed with blues and not had any issues, also used browns, and now use reds, for me each switch just takes a little while to get used to.

And btw, anyone looking to sell a Poker, please let me know (damn you longweight :p)

Blacks are really heavy and I don't like them much; I would like to try browns.

Ended up getting the quickfire rapid, the blues are super nice but bottom out and are mad loud. Gonna get the o-rings and gotta learn to touch type.

I'm a big fan of blacks, but then I'm really heavy handed and tend to bottom out, even with blacks.

I just might get a mechanical keyboard. For one reason.

Pressing more than 4 keys causes no response. Very awkward when gaming and suddenly you stop walking because you were checking your score..

    Microsoft Ergo 40000.

Comfy, but occasionally frustrating to use thanks to the miserable keystroke recognition at times.

Not all mechs solve this problem. Some are only 2KRO also. Make sure to check before purchase.

Hmm, will do. I'll replace the keyboard when it decides to die on me again. (Had to clean the contacts because the V key didn't work before.

Still on the edge about buying one, keep looking at the filco but then don't know if i want browns or blues.

But then i think..£100+ for a filco, i can get a none backlit razer with blues for around £65.

I see the filco's dont have a wrist pad, im currently on a logitech G11 and love the little wrist pad thing.

I've got a filco for sale at the moment, as new condition if you're interested.
They're lovely bit's of kit, I would personally say easily worth it over something like the Blackwidow.

Had a Razer Black widow with blues and now have a filco with browns. It has taken a while to get used to not having the click sound but now typing and BF3 are a little bit faster and much quiter. Though I do miss the sound of blues, grew up with my father working into the night on IBM model M key board which you could hear throughout the house.

    Hi Guys!

I now have my first mechanical - with cherry reds. It's awesome but will take a little getting used to. I need to soften the clack when I bottom out the keys and noticed talk of o-rings somewhere in the maelstrom of content in this thread. It looks like these are the ones, but I also spotted these soft landing pads. Are the o-rings better? Also, do I need the key cap puller?

Thanks for the guidance. Something new to obsess about on my PC I see ...

You don't need the key cap pulled but it does make life easier! I would wait a while before using o-rings, I tried them briefly and hated them!
