Well there is not picture cause Vortex still don't even have the pre-production model back yet. LOL. I have a guess it will be delayed another month or two. Vortex is almost ready to change their name to VaporTex, they make lots of noise but are terrible at keeping schedule to sell anything.

Jeez, now it's a throw up between the Race and the Dragon.. I lean more towards the Dragon because there's pics but I might end up buying the Race if the Dragon isn't out before the group buy closes.

I would bet the Ducky will be out for purchase first. Ducky is an established company, though their product track record is a little spotty, they are a little more reliable than the relative upstart that is Vortex. I have more faith in Ducky to keep to their release schedule after all the stumbling I've seen from Vortex. Don't get me wrong, I like Vortex since they are innovators, they just need to do a little more to get in the game.

Ducky.. I heard a lot of talk about key rattle n stuff that always put me off Ducky products - bad quality apparently.

Is there any base to such gossip?

I think it's mostly just rabid Filco fanboyism on GH, etc. I haven't spent much time with Ducky, but I think most of the MX line is fine from most accounts. The Alps copy XM cheapo stuff on the other hand... I am more skeptical.

I had a Ducky TKL board, was very good, there is a lot of hate on geekhack with them, but I had no issues, actually kept my Ducky longer than my Filco of the same type, and I doubt I could have told the difference between the two in a blind typing test, only way Filco was better was build quality of the case, and weight, since that's one of the best bits about a Filco :D

    Edit:
And just took a quickie since you asked so nicely... :p

That's the PLU-87? Or is it a Ducky?

That's the PLU, and yeah I do rather like it.

Got some keycaps with the 2 keyboards, so my Poker in it's current state:

PLU87 isn't terrible, but they use different components to keep the cost down. So there is no guarantee they are over 2KRO as they use different controller in different production runs. You can play lottery with them and get lucky with 6KRO or even 18KRO over usb, but also crap out with 2KRO. If they quit f*cking about and used the better controller chips ALWAYS they would get a good rep, as they really do seem to be made fine otherwise. Same OEM as Choc, so nothing wrong there, just PLU is treated as some 2nd rate value line.

Just replaced my MS natural 4000 with a Razer Black Widow Ultimate this morning and wow what a difference, not only in the sound and the layout of it (the layout is going to take some getting used to) but I see what people mean about the mushy feeling from rubber dome keys.

Once i get used to this a bit more I might have to take a look at getting a mechanical board sorted out for work as I do a lot of typing although using blue keys might cause a few issues with the clicking, I can see me getting lynched after a while.

You can get silent keys for mechanical keyboards. Blues are the noisiest of the bunch.
