full set of white on black - needs moogle, but I have also purchased el2k's rgb set, so just need 3 mods then it will be all good for my tkl board which is going to work when the ridiculous cougar attack arrives. will have some grey cherry profile mods I can stick there until I can get a moogle.

For those of you who don't pay much attention to geekhack, we have a groupbuy in the works for new Cherry doubleshot modifiers packs and more. Check it out.

So go vote for brown modifiers. Don't subscribe to the strange fascination people have with purple, it's just weird

But I don't understand all this groupbuy stuff and I also have no paypal :(

(my vote would be for purple though!)

I did however fill in the form.

voted for brown mods. have cherry ever done brown on white/beige DS? I imagine them looking really good with white/beige on brown mods, but maybe it's just me.

margo: groupbuys seem a little daunting at first, but you basically order whatever the GB is for and the guy running it will go off and have all the various bits made. I believe it's because it makes it easier to hit higher MOQ, and get lower prices.

I was a bit worried at first, but all my groupbuy experiences have been pretty good so far :) Not having paypal might be a bit of a concern though :/

Those Cherry modifiers look quite nice, not keen on purple m'self though.

I'm putting an order in at Techkeys on Friday if anyone wants something, I'll cover international postage, just add £2 for UK post at this end. Not sure if it'll arrive for xmas or not.

I may well want a few things from techkeys (been meaning to place an order for a while...) - I'll have a nosey and let you know. I wouldn't mind paying some of the postage. (obviously if what I want bumps it up above $8 then I def would) What are you thinking of getting?

    Don't worry - it's being well looked after :)

I'm getting a Zelda heart set for the Mrs, she's got a real Zelda-boner, and it'd just finish off her Filco nicely. :D

Nice :D In that case as I'd want quite a few keys (at least 3, maybe up to 8...) I wouldn't mind sharing the cost of postage :) $8 postage for 1 key is quite a bit!

My Mrs doesn't really understand the whole mech thing, she doesn't actively disapprove either though :thumb:

OK, he offered me the board for £55 - it's boxed and mint as far as I can tell - I don't think he's used it, as there aren't any finger prints or marks on the soft-touch coating. Anywhere!

There is a catch though - the key layout is foreign. It's German I think, as the top row starts with QWERTZ instead of QWERTY. I'm assuming it's just a case of getting replacement caps - if so, I am going to try QPAD directly.

I can't see a downside to be honest, but I'm waiting for one of you to tell me why my plan won't work! :hehe:

    Anyone?

    Regards

    Dave

If they do sell them then you might find that (a) they don't sell keycaps separately or (b) they're massively expensive...

You could just live with it & memorise where the 'wrong' things are (like the brackets, punctuation, switched y & z) or you could always buy replacement keys from an alternate source but then you have the issue of them not fitting along the modifier row and / or not let the backlight through

You can't buy replacement caps for backlit keys? Really?

Nope - that's what put me off a backlit board to be honest

Edit: Well you can, but they won't show the light through :p
