Harty, no the prices are usually pretty constant. Some models go on sale from time to time though. If you have a tight budget there are certain models like the CM Rapid that are very good value. There is also good chance to catch a deal in the used market.
What were you thinking budget wise? Sure someone can point you towards something.

    Ducky shine 2 ?

Is that the one where you can set the illumination to register individual key presses? Christ knows why that would be useful, but my kids would love it.

I saw the ducky boards a little while ago on ccl online, the only place I have seen which do just the ducky keys is mechanicalkeyboards.com and they only have ANSI layouts. I have sent them an email to see if they will have or can get ISO layouts.

Any plans for CCL to stock keycaps, Yorkie?

Correct. I'd never spend that sort of money on a keyboard, but as you know I had a little help on this one ;)

Rep cookie if you can guess which switches I went for.

    Correct. :)

I have now owned boards with all four mainstream MX switch variants, and ultimately I like browns best as they give the best compromise between typing and gaming.

Blacks are too heavy for me (hence why I'm not interested in any of the rarer switches). Reds are great for gaming but no better than browns, and the tactile bump does definitely make typing easier. Blues are great, but owning them in a Blackwidow and not being a particularly proficient typist they're not for me.

Now I'm going to reach into the rep cookie jar as promised.

So after a few months of owning my lovely Model M. My thoughts:

Fantastic build quality, the thing is literally almost impossible to destroy. Although finding the keycaps in a mishap might be a bit tough.

The tactility makes regular rubber dome keyboards so bad and hard to use. Sad really, but I love the clicky springs despite the higher noise levels. Although it lacks the nkey rollover of newer MX switches for the sum of $30 I paid for it, no regrets.

It's also surprisingly easy to clean and maintain. Taking apart the main keycaps might be a bit hazardous because of risky spring placement, but the area between the keys can be so easily cleaned it's brilliant.

There is one problem though. The PS/2 port draws such a huge amount of current that it causes my computer to not start up at times. Strange I know.

Outside of that one niggle and no NKRO it's a fabulous acquisition. Love that thing to death.

    I suppose that's my mini-review after a while.

Thanks to useless amazon - my cougar attack ANSI with blue switches - is actually a cougar attack ISO with red switches - accompanied by a letter which says..

"we understand you ordered a cougar attack with blue switches via amazon. We are currently out of stock till next year January for blue switches therefore we decided to upgrade you with Red Switches

In the gaming keyboard industry, Cherry Red Switch is the highest grade and most expensive one, following by Blue Switches and Brown Switches."

It's annoying! I been SO looking forward to coming and picking this keyboard up from my parents (as I had to get it posted there) and they have sent the wrong stinking one. I don't want ISO, and I don't want red switches! neither of those thing were part of the order I made.

So still on the hunt for a nice keyboard with blue switches :( I'm frustrated that none of my caps will properly fit this board but I guess I have secretly wanted an ISO board for work. So this is going to go to work, and I will continue my quest for a nice board with blues. I WISH I knew where I could get a KBT Oni from.

Here you go Margo. KBT Oni with blues.
That's kind of unusual for retailer to just send you something else when they are out of stock, especially amazon. Was it actually amazon or some marketplace seller? Usually any place would ASK if you want to wait or go with something else.

It's coming, we just waiting for final confirmations from GMK. I expect it should be in the next few days or whenever they return from the holidays. As soon as we get that we will get the ordering phase started.

New board. Annoying that it's ISO as I have no caps to replace the enter key. I don't think imsto caps exist in ISO which is annoying. hopefully there will be something in my grab bag that will sit there alright.

In terms of the board - it uses cherry stabilizers, and is of quite a good build quality. I would say better than my keycool. LEDs are very bright and you cannot change that which is slightly annoying.

very much undecided on the board.

If I get my full bonus in the new year (a big if), I'm seriously considering a two colour 3D printer.

Providing all things go to plan, does anyone know where to get the specs for mx caps? I'd like to try making my own caps for an illuminated board.
