    Anyone seen the Tex Mini?
The layout options look good. Even has an ISO option. Would be good to try one of these in blues, however that is a tiny spacebar it has...

Looking at the function layer, it is a mix of both the Poker and the Pure. Oh and backlit :)

If you think that space is small, check out Filco 60%, the minila

you may say, but wait lysol JIS spacebar is usually tiny, and that is true but they use the same 3 units space on ANSI and ISO version too.

The thing that bugs me the most about Poker2pro, Tex, and now this minila is that the Z row stagger is shifted .25 units to the left so they could fit an extra key in the row. It might not seem like a big deal, but you might be surprised how much it can throw off years of muscle memory.

Is that an Aluminium chassis? If so...nice.

Yeah I can just about see it. Seems to have moved about 1/4 of a spacing to the left? My main gripe would be lack of replacement caps without having to spend more on add-on kits.

Also just been looking at the Filco minila..... Someone over at Filco has HHKB envy.

According to this, it is indeed aluminium, at least the top part anyway.

I agree with Lysol about all the new 60% boards and their extra key, as well as the downsides of moving keys about for your fingers, I think it looks ugly too. Too many small keys in one area for my liking. I think I will just wait it out and grab a poker or pure (even with the odd right shift) when people buy the new 60% boards.

No, everyone should just go for the GH60 instead, and you can make it however you wish :) in one of many layout variations.

I'd be interested in a GH60 - depending on price mind... Looks like it'd be fun to put together too :D

Fine in principle, but for those that don't know how to solder, have equipment, or time to learn, the gh60 just taunts you with exactly what you want but can't quite have.

Debating a JP HHKB instead at the moment

I solder cables but I've not done much on a pcb before. How difficult would a gh60 be? I am pretty tempted.

Soldering to a pcb is super easy - at least I find it easy. I hadnt done much soldering since uni but have picked it up again recently.

If it's anything like soldering and desoldering stuff on a poker then really simple (compared to cables anyway - I wouldn't know where to start with cables but a pcb is so easy even I can do it!)

The soldering and build doesn't put me off, in fact it is a bonus! But once I have sourced a case, the gh60 kit and then switches and caps I could have 2 or 3 pokers. I will wait to see what the price will be.

Btw I bought these Ducky PBT keys just because I felt like it and I really wanted to see what PBT is like. I now find myself stroking the caps rather than typing what I should be. I am glad I tried PBT, because I doubt will I buy anything else (other than stock caps on boards) just for the texture alone :hehe:

I spent like $30-40 on the entire thing for my prototype edition GH60. You don't need to spend a fortune.

Orly? What is the estimated cost for a complete kit, assuming I have literally nothing to start with?

All I have seen is that a "kit" would hopefully be less than $100, but this wouldn't include a case, switches or caps, I assume I misunderstood :duh:

Granted I know where, when and how to get deals... you can do it for somewhere between $50 and $80 if you salvage from used market like a good deal on a G80 and strip it to use switches, stabilizers, keycap plus a plastic Poker or Pure case off someone that replaced thiers with a fancy metal one.

Well my pure now needs to return to base. Now officially too heavy to count as portable

Margon, when I get some time to organise, you may have pm incoming for a switch replacement job on my 1800 ;) still got key chatter and reckon simplest to just swap them all out for new clears.

So now what... Do I go with JP HHKB?

ahh, i'm looking for a cheap ansi layout full size to use for work and figured i might find a cheap cherry one which i can put nicer caps on (as i have ordered far more caps than i have boards).

i saw a 3d printed frame to affix keycaps to (just a sort of sprue frame with stems sticking up), but i can't find it now. anyone seen anything similar?

    also, this looks kinda awesome:

also also, is anyone getting the vegas dice set/february gh key from techkeys?
