If you're adding the clears to a PCB mount board you can easily just buy plate mount clears and pop off the top housing as you would normally. :)

As George says, I think these are both plate-mounted boards.

I assume that means no quick and easy solution?

Unfortunately not - desolder job I'm afraid...

Ok, that idea's going on the back burner, until I have the time and inclination to desolder a shedload of switches.

    Thanks for the knowledge, George.

I'm looking for some advice on the purchase of my first mechanical keyboard.

The following are the requirements I have, or at least think I want
    - blue backlit keys (ideally not too much spill between keys)
    - UK layout
    - full keyboard, so number pad included
    - no extra keys like macro ones on the left side of the keyboard, want to keep ctrl key there..
    - under £100 if possible?

Not sure of what switches I should go for, I'm currently using a choc mini with browns, but have no access to other switch types to compare. Also not sure if any of my requirements are unrealistic or stupid, so would be grateful on any advice or recommendations.

What will your main use for the keyboard be? Browns are a nice switch - I love reds for both typing and gaming. You might be able to meet all of your needs but the price one will be the hardest to stick to...

I guess the main use will be typing, either reports or code. But of course there will be some gaming also, however I'm not too sure how much difference the keyboard will make for gaming? I'm sure that is a bad thing to say...

I can maybe push the budget up a bit more, I'm just reluctant to buy something like a keyboard at that price without being able to try it out before.

For a good all-rounder I'd stick with browns unless you do get a chance to try the other switches beforehand - I'll have a think & a look about for a board that fits your needs (or at least comes close :thumb:)

I'm done with GH, tp4issue is the nail in the coffin. Why do they let him troll pretty much every thread?

Please link me this thread. The layout on there is too disgusting for me to navigate out of the GB subforum!

    You are a legend George!

I have only been on GH a little while and already I dislike it, I go nowhere but the classifieds to see if there are any good deals. I noticed the resident troll very quickly and steered well clear.

If I need to ask a question, I ask here or DT.

Yes I am getting tired of the way things have become over there too. I think after I conclude my current groupbuy commitments I will retire.

Haven't been on geek hack in ages.

Only to read a few pm's I get here and there.
Will probably close/delete my account if that is possible.

My time with nice keyboards is slowly coming to an end though with all the money and time I am starting to spend on paintball for this seasons tournaments.

The only thing left to acquire before I leave the keyboard world for a while is a g80-1800 winkeyless to have as my daily driver.
    Hint hint Lysol :)
