The final stuff we're waiting on is being shipped to tjcaustin (the gb organiser in the states) this week so our parcel should be on its way to me this week or early next - exciting!!!

There are some unpaid items from my groupbuy. If anyone from here is interested in picking anything up just let me know.

Nice score on the 3000HSMGB George. I'm surprised they went for so low as the same boards were going for £80-120 only months ago!

While hunting around in cupboards at work l found an old Cherry G81-3000. Removed a couple of keycaps to see what switches were hiding beneath the keycaps to find cherry MX whites. Strange thing is l couldn't discern any tactile bump. Tried many keys and pressing at different speeds but to my uneducated touch they feel linear. Is the tactile bump so slight that l may have missed it or could it be a different switch?

G81 is MY switches not MX.

What's the rest of the part number? The keycaps could be wortht something.

All G81 have linear MY switch. Most are white, but older ones can be black. With MY switch the color of them doesn't tell you much more than how old they are.
The keycaps are compatible with MX and MY. If the sub-model first letter is H or S then it is certainly worth something. S more so than H, like 3000H*G/3000S*G, 3000H**GB.

They're lasered caps (the L in the model number) - the ones that Ivan was talking about would either have a S (for dye-sublimation) or H (for double shot)

Having only recently popped my Cherry cherry, why are dye sublimated caps more valuable than DS? Is it rarity?

As far as I know yeah - they're much harder to come by and as such are very expensive

With the final price of Red-on-Grey I wish I had changed to that. Thats what happens when you don''t keep yourself in the loop. oh well Red-on-White is not the end of the world. :waah: (for the main set)

Forgot to answer this. Probably about £60 on here, maybe a touch more on eBay but you'll lose the difference in fees.

The main thing with dye sub isn't really rarity now, it's the fact that they're dye sub PBT, rather than doubleshot ABS. PBT is supposed to have a nicer and longer lasting texture than ABS.

Managed to lay my hands on an absolutely mint (as in apparently never used) G80-3000HQMGB, expecting to collect it later in the month. The best part? It was free! Part of a relative's house clearance.

In two minds about whether to sell it, cannibalise it or just use it as is.

As part of the same haul I will acquire a Model M in excellent condition, although it is a properly old one from a PS/2.
