I won a board full of ISO doubleshots and blues too recently - can't quite decide what to do with them either... I've never enjoyed typing on blues until using this board - must be the DS caps as it's certainly not the build quality of the board! PCB mount does have a slightly flimsy feel to it but does decrease weight / cost & add portability...

You can sell me that whole board if you don't wanna keep it George :D I could make use of all parts of it, caps and switches. Just saying ^^

Funny you should mention this - I actually prefer the feel of PCB mounted blue switches over plate. There is a very subtle bounce from the keys which completely alters the feel and gives a different type of clunk. I notice this particularly on the space bar (which is actually green, but the point remains valid) ;)

The DS caps might make a difference too, but I think the "standard" build quality actually improves the typing feel. Reds on the other hand need a plate.

I'm typing this on a PCB mount board with (ghetto) reds and it's quite nice - does definitely have a different feel to plate mounted though... The main difference I've found with blues is the keycaps - thick cherry DS caps give blues a much nicer feel than with other caps - I've typed on both pcb mount and plate mounted blues and didn't really like either but that was with crappy thin non-DS caps...

EK are selling HHKB's now as well - I didn't realise they sold those. $270 for normal or $400 for type S

Yeah - they've always sold them - the only problem is (a) the shipping from EK is extortionate (nearly $60) and (b) you get stung for customs / VAT...

Edit: Well not always, but for some time anyway...

Have any of you gents got any TKL (ANSI) boards for sale or possibly swaps with a Poker? I want to take a keyboard to work so need at least another TKL as my programming trial with a Poker didn't go down too well, too many keys missing.

Alternatively what is the cheapest way to get a half decent standard ANSI layout TKL in the UK?

I'm after full keyboard. I looks like its almost impossible to find one like that I guess..
Solution I can see is to get ANSI white, then take case only and get black one to swap the insides. Then get some two tone beige keycaps:) Sounds crazy, I know...

If you are going to get keycaps anyway - then why not just get the keyboard colour that you want and replace the caps with whatever you want?

Hmmm... looks pretty good. Also from what I can tell it has standard keycaps and no silly spacebar like Leopold and Keycool boards. I am not enjoying that logo though!

I was looking at the Choc Midi too as it is a similar price (but from the Far East so long wait and potential customs charges) but it has to work on Linux and possibly Mac and I know the Choc has some issues on Mac so not sure how well it would work on Linux either. Ideally I would be able to get my hands on a QFR but they seem as much/more used in ANSI layout as it is to buy new ISO ones.

i have been looking at choc mid's as they do some good fun colours. I believe the logo on the hpe is just a sticker and you can take it off. Or take some sandpaper to it.

Looks a bit more stubborn than a sticker here. :dremel:

I think I will just put up a wanted on DT, someone must have one, shipping from Europe would be cheaper than the states at least.

It'll be a sticker that lifts off from within the indent and then leaves the indent behind.

Could just buy another sticker to stick over the top?
