I don't want to split anything, better to keep it all like it was posted and get it sent again.
George took care of everything and is going to solve it with TJ.

I am giving ergo clears a whirl on my keycool board. This is the first thing I have typed on them.

First impressions - I quite like this alot. I have all my other boards unsoldered at the moment. I went soldering mad this afternoon.

Any problems with keys sticking? I'd like to get some korean springs to have another go at ergos (something somewhere between reds and blacks)

none have stuck at all so far. I took the springs from some blue switches. They make a completely different sound now, also using them with cherry ds. I like this more than I thought I would!

I also stopped using lead free solder. It was doing my head in, now I have some old school 60/40 solder and it's really amazing, and leaves a nice bright shiny joint. I would recommend 60/40 over lead free solder any day, and you can still get 60/40 on amazon etc. I also put a new tip on one of my irons which has also made soldering lovely. I think it takes me about 10 minutes max now to solder a board.

First post in this thread but after some opinions. Which of these two is better or are they farely similar?

Filco Majestouch 2 TKL or Ducky G2 Pro PBT TKL.

    Thanks in advance.

Ducky G2 Pro is backlight isn't it?

I would go for the ducky over the filco (whether there is a backlight or not) as, Filco isn't really leading with quality these day's, not to say it's quality has got worse, it's more everyone else's quality has improved. A Ducky G2 is going to be just as good build quality as a filco, but you get better caps with it as stock.

I would only buy a filco if it was cheaper, or if you wanted to put a hid liberation device in it.

The Ducky is a no brainer. Better caps, equivalent built quality, backlit WASD & looks better (imho).

not tried the ducky, i understand it's similar build quality to a filco. I use a filco and it's great but i couldn't give you a recommendation between those two, i suspect the filco is the more expensive option, which imo is their main stumbling block.

The ducky has a backlit WASD cluster afaik (search for ducky in this thread - Shirty did a good post a while ago comparing the different ducky models) and different material keycaps (PBT instead of ABS if you were wondering). The G2 Pro does tend to be cheaper (<£100 for the ducky and about £120 for the Filco)

What switches were you thinking of going for?

    Edit: Double ninja'd!

How many ducky shares have you bought now Shrity? You should probably ask them for a job the amount of ducky's you help sell hehe.

I calls 'em as I sees 'em!

In all honesty, when I first got in to mechs Ducky was getting quite a bashing from some more elitist sources due to some build quality oversights, particularly with the low end models. They have sorted these now, and I don't want people spending loads on a Filco only to find that they could have got a better deal.

I don't actually like the looks that much... I do like the white keycaps on a black board but the font, the ducky caps and the printing on the side of the spacebar are real eye-sores imo... Not that I use the stock keycaps on it any more but I prefer the look of the Filco ninja caps over those...

    Just personal preference really :)

Of course it is! You know me George I like boring single colour boards with stock caps

Ducky are doing pretty well with keycap options at the moment, but I haven't seen side printed white PBTs as an option yet - only a matter of time though... unless you like white on white:

I'm not a very proficient touch typist so they would infuriate me in low light...

I had a Ducky TKL which was awesome, but these newer boards look different (the keycaps at least I think).

I quite like the white keycaps on the black body, I'd probably go for the Ducky in all honesty, use the money saved on some more keycaps or something :D

I was leaning towards the Ducky anyway to be honest, it's £20 cheaper and in stock.

With regards to the backlighting is it possible to turn it off? I use ESDF not WASD so that would be annoying if it can't be disabled.

Thanks for all the responses, Bit-Tech a wonderfully friendly forum as ever.

P.s. White side printed PBT caps would totally suit.

Those keycaps look awesome... You can turn off the backlight apparently
