Thing is, that Ducky with blue and grey etc caps is pretty decent, so I'd probably just stick with that for a bit. Time for a think :)

im also looking at the ducky wit the blue and grey key caps. But the £144 price is a bit too steep, if it was more around the £100 then i would of bought it

It is a bit steep I agree, the normal black G2 Pro with ABS keycaps and UK layout is only £80 on CCL at the minute, and whilst the dyesub PBT caps and rarity add a chunk of the additional £64, I'd imagine the rest is down to the cost of importing a few of these at a time and still turning a profit.

It's the kind of keyboard that would suit someone looking to get something pretty unusual without the hassles normally associated. Might cost a few quid more, but I suppose you pay for convenience.

So which has the nicer caps (as a base board) - the Ducky (ooh hello, ducky!) or the Filco?

Comparing like for like I'd marginally favour the boggo ABS Ducky caps, for no reason other than the UV coating. The Filco caps feel nice but they're very soft and shine up quite readily. The Filco font wins though, with its slightly Japanese inspiration.

Note that the caps on the Ducky Zero do not have this coating, and the PBT caps you can get on the G2 Pros are quite different feeling, rougher and harder - just how you like it ;)

All stock caps that aren't PBT dyesub, or pom, are naff. :)

    This though, this isn't naff,

The Zero v the G2 Pro - material differences? If I buy a cheap one, I can buy a TKL board and a full board without feeling too bad.

Rougher and harder? Oh you know me so well, ducky

Considering the Shine is a G2 Pro with LEDs this is as good as I can offer. However, considering that you can now get a G2 Pro for just a tenner more than a Zero, I'd forgo a couple of pints and plump for the better model.

Cheers ducky, I'd rep you for that if it actually meant anything to you!

    It'll be a G2 Pro or a Filco then I think :)

Thanks all. Oh and an ErgoDox? That's awesome. I'd love one on my desk at work. Pricey, though!

    I have a serious question.

    Apart from the anti ghosting.

Why does nobody do a wireless mechanical keyboard? Is it something to do with power usage etc? Because I really like having a wireless keyboard at work, but I'd also like cherry's on it but it doesn't seem to happen.

    Maybe because of size issues....?

They do - the neo zelia I reckon is wireless, and so is plum96. Matias also do a wireless keyboard though admittedly it's a mac board.

    Wireless is rubbish though.

Some wireless technologies can be rubbish, yes. Especially as we've never seen a good wireless mech. However, we have had some brilliant mice- look at the Logitech MX Series!

I'd love to take my keyboard wireless as well as my mouse though.

My mouse is a wireless MX, and it's often fine, but it does have its moments. Usually at a critical time in-game.

How can you mod an invisible cable though? Ha!

Wireless isn't only rubbish because wireless is rubbish, it requires some kind of battery as well - which is another point of failure, and it means at some point you are still going to have to plug a cable into your keyboard, or replace the batteries.

Wireless is just so neat and tidy though, and for someone like me who hates wires on a desk, it's a good thing.

Just a shame that wireless is, in general, rubbish.
