If you vote for ISO then you get both.

It is currently ANSI, if 50 people want ISO then he will adapt it to include ISO.

    I think....

Ah right - is it basically a knock-off gh60? I've registered my vote for ISO but probably won't be buying...

I wish I had got in on the GH60, though in reality I want it for it's cool DIY factor, and my soldering skills aren't up to scratch haha. As far as I can tell it is way too late now unless I can get someone else's order which they no longer want.

This new 60% PCB thing looks cool, but again my building skills are lacking and the total cost including, switch, caps, case and plate (if available) is quite high considering I would probably just use a standard, purchasable layout.

My soldering skills aren't fantastic but good enough to take apart and reassemble my poker so hopefully I'll be alright with a gh60 (or two). I've got them with smd pre-soldered as I don't fancy that at all...

Do they come with (or even need) the diodes soldered? I think with a better iron I could get it done. I might see if anyone wants rid of theirs (preferably ISO) and just make it a long project.

GH60s? All SMDs and diodes come pre-soldered unless you want a fully DIY kit (which I don't!)

Yeah sorry I mean the GH60. I will see if anyone has an order they don't want, which I guess is pretty unlikely at this stage as they have probably already sold them on.

It took me a long time to pick up an ISO order.

Join the new interest check, that PCB will be much better!

the korean keyboard does win on account of it natively supporting full LED and the hardware macros, I think it will make a nice board! Though, if you do want to run LEDs on it - there IS SMD work, as the LED resistors won't be presoldered.

Word is GH60 will be available from mechanical keyboards and maybe elsewhere after the groupbuy so it's probably not going to be hard to get one later. Also there is nothing stopping anyone from having more made anytime since the PCB schematic is open.

This new PCB dosen't support the mighty IvanIvanovich layout so it pretty much sucks

So I could have an ISO edition of the pure basic layout, with ctrl moved to caps, and another fn key in the lower left, clear switches and amber/orange or yellow led (red led on wasd) all without the annoying left shift function shortcut of the pure?

How much would such a creation cost? (Assume that I need to pay someone to build it but I have a case.)

Money still tight since moving so its probably a pipe dream but....

    That is indeed right sir.

Well you are in a fortunate position in that it would just cost you the cost of materials - pcb is $50 and then whatever else you need, but you can probably scavenge for another keyboard (switches stabs etc.) - if you wanted a plate that would be another thing you would have to find from somewhere. If you wanted LEDs would cost you about 1p per resistor and then whatever LEDs you want from http://www.phenoptix.com/collections/leds/products/3mm-led-leds and then you just have to send it to me and I will return to you a lovely keyboard :)

    Painting keyboard housing

I'm sure that this has been covered elsewhere in the thread, but I want to paint the housing of the Cougar Attack keyboard Margon kindly sent me a month ago.

I know very little about painting stuff other than walls and suchlike, so what are the golden tips from the experts? Do I need to sand down the housing using wet n dry at all first? What is the best type of paint to use? Will it require sealing with a clear layer? Other tips for a pleasing finish?

Any help would be most appreciated.

If the color you want to make it is available in vinyl dye go for that. It requires no prep other than the surface being clean, unlike paint it gets down into the plastic so it is durable as hell.
If you're after some other color, I would suggest to use Montana Gold paint if you can get it. Personally I don't sand because I want to keep the factory texture. Just use very thin coats to make sure it 'sticks'. Protective clear coat is probably advised for regular paint.
