The G80-3850 (MX 3.0) would be my pick out of those 3. It has VASTLY better overall build than a 3000, though the stock caps are FAR worse. It's the first Cherry G80 model that is plate mounted in decades. You could get a replacement Chery KC104 set for it cheap though which would make it much nicer. As far as getting replacement keycap sets it will be far easier and much larger selection than what is available for Corsair. Additionally it also has 6KRO/NKRO which is much better than the 3000 2KRO. If you are not sure what KRO is it is key roll over, which tells the amount of keys that can be pressed and register at once. 2KRO can be fine for typing, but if you are going to play things like FPS you will become frustrated.

Having given my SSK a good clean and the caps a nice denture tablet bath I'm in the process of floss modding it - the difference is phenomenal :) You get all the click and tactile feedback without any of the plate / springs ringing like bells - regarde:

(Obviously the < key hasn't been done yet for comparison )

And a nice (albeit potato) work in progress pic

Anybody here made a Soarer's converter? I have a Model M terminal keyboard and I would like to use it with my PC at some point! :)

So who's tempted by the new Corsair RGB keyboard? Besides the RGB backlight the general look of the keyboard is fantastic

I like the idea, to be honest. The ability to program it means the garish-ness is going go to be up to the user, the rainbow effect is only really for demonstration purposes. Thing is, I'd want a TKL with a normal bottom row, which just won't happen.

Ducky YotD is up for sale now if anyone is interested!

Think a friend is buying my G80-3494 too, so I'll be ISO only soon!

I honestly do prefer the ANSI layout, but I seem to have acquired some really nice ISO boards and switching from one to the other all the time is just a pain. That, and some adjustments to my Honeywell GB order (removing ANSI and some fluff) has freed up some cash.

Now, anyone know who at Corsair I should be sending a horse's head to?

Seriously, I can live with the ugly media control keys and cheap looking default keycaps, but why oh why oh why go with 1.5--1--1.25--6.5--1.25--1--1--1.5 for the bottom row? WHY?!?!

I really like the idea of the (as yet imaginary) RGB K65, but for me to want to buy it they'll have to sort out that bottom row.

I wonder if the LED-ness will need extra
    PCB bits, I suspect so

It will yeah - they're SMD and, I believe, mounted above each switch so it wouldn't just be a case of bunging them on an existing board...

Below. The LEDs are mounted on the keyboard's PCB, with the transparent plastic Cherry MX RGB switch sitting on top. Remove just the switch and stick it on another keyboard, and all you've got is an overly-expensive non-light-up keyboard.

It's a shame they couldn't integrate the LED into the switch housing. Maybe not cost effective for the keyboard OEMs, but imagine the flexibility...

    Indeed!
