Also, no idea what a well-used Apple Extended II is worth, but this one is on eBay with nice dual legends. £10 delivery but no bids yet and located in Dunstable. I gather from a quick bit of googling that the M3501 model is mostly Mitsumi switches, but some were Alps?

Just thought I'd flag it up anyway.

Tonight he broke the sound on his motherboard. Hearing this has significantly improved my evening.

 

Hi Ivan! Yep - just that. Probably plus the usual ANSI shift keys as one on Skidata is a bit short I think. Thinking about it, I'll probably want a full-size (2x) '0' key as well if I want to use it on a full board.

Mods most important though

 

It will be hard to get color match in those size unless you get one of the originative sets. I'm using part of my set with white/black mods and etc... on a 60% I think it looks pretty nice... it also look interesting with those white/purple mods I did. White/green is kind of outrageous too but EK dosen't have win or menu key.
You could get some cheap PBT Cherry set and dye them orange, for the inverse... that could look cool as well.

White/black is a good idea actually - I've some of the white/purple mods on a board in front of me at this very moment, but they're not mine

Vinyl dye might be a good call actually - would that cover the legends though?
