That's fine, you can go nuts, i'll happily put them on other peoples keyboards :D I will never put them on my own keyboards though.

I'd love a desoldering gun; I still have to do it the ooolllddd slllooowww way. I do a hell of a lot of soldering but I still don't have any proper desoldering equipment. Maybe one day.

I don't think many people do.

    I DO THOUGH :)

Best £110 quid i've ever spent. Though, it gets through tips like no ones business. I find the tips are only good for about 400 - 500 goes, then they start to mess up pcb's. Maybe actually they are now lasting me more like 600 - 700 goes as i'm getting better with the unit.

It would be good though; I do a lot of modding for retro consoles for myself and other people; commissions and such. A proper desoldering gun would be great for those old boards, the solder is stuck like rock sometimes.

Thanks for the link, certainly better than mechanicalkeyboards.com in shipping, although I sense the possibility of ending up with a well lubricated jiffy bag.

It would be wasted on me now, don't have the clear stems. Then I'm not really sure what board I want to put the ergo-clears on either. mechanicalkeyboards.com is still the best place to get clears right? I'll have to place an order at some point.

I use one of these puppies. Under a tenner delivered from Shenzen, and works like a charm. Even deals with massive, ancient solder joints - used it to desolder a broken modulator from a Master System. Just glob a load of flux on top, pop the iron on, count the three and POP!

Sure, it's no match for a £110 desoldering station - but it's less than a tenth that price...

I was looking at one of those last week - as much as I would like a full-on desolder/rework station, I can't justify the cost.

I'll warn you now, it does come with the ever-present risk of electrocution thanks to some cut-price wiring choices - but I ain't dead yet.

Wouldn't you be better off with a Ducky Shine 3 TKL?

oh I definitely agree about what Gareth has linked - I didn't know they existed prior to my purchase, else I would of definitely given one of those a shot. I do not feel bad about my purchase though, as it gets several hours use every single week.

WASD caps are pony though. :) their keyboards are alright, I prefer ducky's all day though having modded a few WASD boards.

It's 6 quid?! Surely it can't be very good... Could be worth it just for some of the NES and NeoGeo stuff though. One day i'll have an epic soldering/desoldering station, my missus has to put up with it either way.

Also, that site is awesome; great conversion prices from USD and free GB delivery. Bookmarked I think.

I have actually ordered lube from them before (for Margon actually but it was delivered to me first) and it came very well sealed up actually - vacuum sealed and everything :) Plus you can stock up on novelty caps whilst you're at it :)
