It's brilliant - works like a charm. Smoked like a chimney when I first turned it on, uses an ungrounded plug and holds the tip at mains potential... Brilliant!

Sounds like fun for all the family if you don't particularly like your family

You are wrong! It had the potential to cause a rift, but, to this day she has never noticed it, so she doesn't realise it was an expensive purchase :)

no no I don't! i solder to the left of my mousemat, the stations all just live on the right of it, I solder normally just on my desk protector, unless I am doing air then I stick a heat proof mat down, as I've learnt that otherwise I melt the pcb's I am working on to my desk protector, which is no fun.

No, but strangely she does a bit of GH

I have a quick question for the electronically gifted.

Is it possible to convert a Belkin N52te (basically the Razer Nostromo) to use mechanical switches. I'm pretty handy with electronics, wiring and soldering and don't mind don't the work for it. I just want to know if it's possible to do so; I don't really want to spend £120 on an Orbweaver. I've had this thing 5 years and I want to breathe some new life into it; I just don't like the feel of the keys now i'm used to Cherry MX switches.

They will have entirely different pcb's - due to how the domes work and how cherry mx works :( sadly.

What you could consider - is building yourself a one handed ergodox? I think you can get pcb's and cases from mechanicalkeyboards.com - then you can just get a few passives and a teensy and make a one handed dox :) Probably for much less than an orbweaver. It's something I have been considering doing - then I remembered I don't really play any games, I just buy them instead.

It has been done. Looks like a lot of effort though.

    Damn this thread moves quick!

If you mean the CM keyboard it's ISO, The ducky I was looking at is also ISO with green LEDs.

    You snooze you lose

Fair enough - like I said, if I was in your position I'd always go for a separate keyboard and numpad. My reason is for desk space though - I still prefer to use a numpad right handed but I can move it back out of the way when I'm not using it.

Might be worth a go; i'd much prefer to spend little money on converting what I have rather than fork out what would probably be three, almost 4 times the cost to convert it on an orbweaver.

You could get something like this to solve the use numpad and cursor block at once issue, though would need modding since it seems to use a parallel connector.

It's an interesting option but a lack of time and talent would mean I'd end up making a mess of it :D, I think I'll just get rid of this and go for the second option, TKL and numpad.

Nice to see some new faces in here :)

George is right though - keep making noises until you get your answers or it'll get buried pretty quickly.

You can solder whatever LEDs you like on a Ducky, Margon might need to tell you about resistors though. The only LED mod I've one is on this Cougar with a magical PCB that can drive anything under the sun.

Sorry, wat. Surely the mains goes through your PCB?
