That looks like the most poorly lit work area I've ever seen! :worried:

How do you like the BlackJack? I got one for my workshop in school a few months ago. Not too bad for the price and does all I need it to in school, but it still doesn't hold a candle to Weller or Metcal gear.

I hope he means it puts the full mains potential through the tip in heat as opposed to current. Then again it's a £6 Chinese desoldering iron, so it probably is live

No no! My desk is in a huge bay window, but i had my orange curtains closed, with them open, it's very light. And I am an avid head torch user ;)

Hmm the blackjack is alright as it is cheap. My main complaints are they are quite slow to heat up. I have a couple of blackjack bits, my 35w station is blackjack too. But both my blackjack units - the wands/guns are completely serviceable, and there is a wealth of spare parts so I like this. I have never used weller stuff as I read some bad things about it and that put me off, and I can't afford metcal! My air station is pretty pants, I am considering getting a better one of those next.

Does anybody know a good place to buy SMD LEDs? I want to get started on modding this N52te, so I wanted the lighting to match my Steelseries 6GV2, which has white function lights.

I try to get everything I can from here http://cpc.farnell.com/ though somethings they don't stock great quantities of, normally, if it's not on cpc farnell, then it will be on grown up farnell which has broader stock range http://uk.farnell.com - but it also has 20 quid minimum order , where as cpc has no minimum order (I have bought 28p of diodes from cpc before, and I paid 28p, though I did feel bad about that one :p ). Failing both of those - you would have to look to Rs, but personally I no likey RS, I only buy from them if i am desperate.

Bad things about Weller? The only bad thing about my Weller iron is that I miss using it when I'm using anything else :)
