I have a media server, I want to use it for my theater. It has a old Sabrent SB-TV card, works fine. I have a couple questions. 1) Is it posible to get it too display the program on the screan when I change channel? Like digital cable (I know it dosnt require digital cable since my borthers TV does) 2) Can I add a guide too it? 3) It uses what looks like a small headphone connector for the remote. Can I get a male to male connector and a long cord (radioshack has the cable with the right connector) and extend it? 4) I have a ATI AIW 4MB can I use that for the tv out (the tv tuner/inputs dont work in XP pro the reason im using the sabrent card) or will it crash?
Problem I cant run a line to the basement, it would be a PITA, so can I send the remote signal over a phone line, it isnt used (IE connected in the main panel).
1. Try got all media it might support your card and does this. 2. See 1 3. It's possible, but you might want to get a ir extender. one unit sits next to reciever an the other near your tv. So you point the remote at the tv, the reciever picks it up and transmits it to the other unit and then relays that to the tv card reciever. something like http://www.letsautomate.com/10952.cfm? 4. If your card has tv out then more than likely yes if the driver in xp supports it.
My card dosnt seem to have the ability. Would anyone know a program, or know if its possible to make a porgram in javascript (only usefull language I kno) to make it possible, like maybe have it read the channel number, pp up being transparent retriving data from tvguide.com displaying it for 5 seconds and going away?
