So I'm trying to cobble together a NAS/Media Center box.. It'll make daily backups of two computers, plus act as media center for TV and fileserver/download box, and be able to record from the cable.

    I've picked out the following:

    Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811154050
HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136150 (maybe 2.. for RAID.. I'm not sure though..)
    PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371005
    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820609027
    Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130127R
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115018 (already have a cooler for it)

I'm trying to decide also on the vid card (I do need one since TV will be connected via component).. Don't know what to pick, something shitty would be fine I'm sure, it's a standard def TV in the living room still, and if we ever put an HD one in, I can upgrade the vid to a 96GT or something at a later date anywho.

I'm also thinking of running either Ultimate.. or Windows Home Server.. (both of which I have a license to, I just haven't decided which I should use) I'm not exactly sure how well my prents would use the media center functionality, but I could make use of it with my XboX I'm sure.
I've already setup gigabit ethernet throughout the house as well.

I'm kinda trying to keep the price below 500$.. Any suggestions?

Why do you need a gfx card? that mobo has vga and dvi on board, just get a vga to component cable or something.

Edit: you would only really need to get a new gfx card if you wanted to output HD and wanted to offload some of the processing onto the gfx card
