I was wondering, because I saw a flat (i mean the kind that has the monitor sitting on top) desktop pc that had been loaded with something that when it turns on, it runs this program, and it like plays mp3s and is like one cool mp3 playing computer. I wanted to do a little more, get a cheap lcd, and have myself one for playing mp3s, and have it connected to my surround sound system, and have the whole thing be around 1 ghz and with maybe a 20gb hard drive, and have a cheap lcd or ps1 screen to display visulizations on. Anyone know what program i could use??? Could i just have it with like win2000, and a good audio card and a cheap proc?
Yes, yes, and yes to your last three questions. WinAmp works well for an MP3 box, because its simple, elegant, easy to use, and doesnt take much processing power. You can set it up to run at startup, or simply drag it into your Startup folder in the "Start". (you can do this with any executable...) All of your other plans should work, for the ways to do them, tons of guides and such have been written guiding you how. ~Z
