Can anybody guide me through on how to install Media Payer Classic properly? I have read the installation guide on this page, but I have found to be a little vague. :eyebrow:

Am I right in thinking I must first have MS's Windows Media Player 9 (or whatever number) installed first? Then delete the "mplayer2.exe" from the two specified directories mentioned in the install guide, and then rename the Media Player Classic .exe file to "mplayer2.exe" and place it in both specified directories. Right?

    The rest looks straight forward.

Also, how do I Media Player Classic to play .mov files? Do I have to install Quicktime before doing the above actions or is there a plug in for MPC?

To play quicktime, you need the Quicktime Alternative codecs (google for 'em), same with Real Media and the Real Alternative.

It doesn't say in those docs that you have to have a specific version of WMP installed. Why not just have both but get all file formats to open it MPC? Would be easier if you can't replace it.

Thanks, but I was hoping to replace WMP with MPC outright. I mentioned WMP 9 because that's the version buddled with my WinXP Home OEM CD.

Why don't you just install MPC and then use that as your default media player? And just forget about WMP :eyebrow:

:duh: Heh, heh....I've done exactly that, but did it through the Quicktime Alternative bundle installation. :thumb:
