:grr: finally found out what the problem with my wireless network is.

If I do a IPconfig in command promt It says the media is disconnected.
Now if someone knows how to fix this error I can have my wireless network back

    Bits of info:
In device manager the network card appears fine
If I disable the connection, then enable it. It fails.

If XP, go into your Services applet (Start - Run - services.msc)

Look for WIreless Zero Configuration, and if the service is off, right click and tell it to Start.

    See if that fixes it.

    Need Major Help On Lan

    HI

IM SETTING UP A SMALL LAN SYSTEM, ITS ONLY BETWEEN TWO COMPUTERS, ONE CONTAINING WINDOWS 2K AND ONE WITH WINDOWS XP.

IVE PLUGGED IN BOTH OF THE LAN CARDS AND HAVE INSTALLED THE DIRVERS THAT I HAD SENT ON A FLOPPY DISK FOR BOTH COMPUTERS I THEN INSTALLED ALL THE TCP/IP AND STUFF E.T.C

I THEN WENT INTO THE DIAL UP AND NETWORKING FOLDER AND SAW THAT BOTH OF THE LAN CARDS WERE INSTALLED, BUT WHEN I PLUGGED THE CAT5 CABLE IN TWO BOTH OF THE CARDS AND STARTED UP THE PC, I THEN WENT TO CONNECT AND IT SAYS "NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED" BUT ITS NOT, IVE TRIED EVERYTHING AND STILL CANT FIND A WAY TO OVER COME THIS

MY LAN CARDS ARE CALLED = Realtek RTL8139/810x Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC #2

AND ALSO IF IT HELPS, THE LIGHTS ON THE FRONT OF THE CARD NEVER COME ON,I THINK THERE SUPPOSED TO FLASH OR SOMETHING BUT THEYVE NEVER DONE THIS.

    I NEED SOME MAJOR HELP

SO IF SOMEONE COULD PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO OVER COME THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE !! THEN IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

    THANKS ALOT

Looks like your AP/router is denying access to your wifi card. Check the AP/router WLAN config with a normal network-cable or from another PC.

    1. Don't use all caps
    2. Don't steal someone elses thread
    3. Use a cross over cable if you are not using a hub/ switch.

    Are the machines running SP2?

Have you completely reset the router (factory defaults)?

The wireless configuration in SP2 is much improved, I would try this next.
