so i just got a new computer, ASUS P5N32-SLI with 600watt powersupply, pentium D 850, and 2x1GB of PC5600 OCZ Gold Performance memory.

one of the two memory sticks would hang at boot before post, and about 2 seconds after turning the machine on, all the motherboard controlled fans would go full speed. the second memory stick wouldnt work in either DIMM slot.

I had an RMA, and got 2x1GB OCZ Gold Performance memory, PC6600. Same thing, only one stick works, and because i did an advanced RMA i decided to use the one that worked from the old batch, plus the one from the new, and that seemed to work ok?
anyone have any ideas what i can do? i have to return this kit in 3 days, so if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated!!

RMA the new ones as well, and try a different brand?

WHat makes you sure the RAM is actually faulty? Have you run Memtest in DOS yet?

It probably IS your RAM, but I'd run memtest to make sure.

I'd just RMA both sets, as there's clearly an issue. Try a different make of RAM. I've always respected Corsair. I've tried OCZ EB in this rig, and while it wasn't faulty, was just rubbish in terms of OCing. If it works with one from one set, and one from another, then it rules out the motherboard/CPU etc... JUst RMA both, get a refund, or get something other than the OCZ gold.
