Who said? You can just put your beer into a gaterade container or something. Squishy!! Or beer in a bag. That would rule.
Really? I didn't know that. Of course, I don't pay any real attention to sports. Soccer is starting to catch on here a bit, but that's a fairly recent phenomon. Up until a decade or so ago not many kids played it as a team sport, and so there just wasn't any interest. In recent years it's become a very popular sport for parents to stick their kids in since it's not as violent as football and more active than baseball. It's not going to be popular as a sport to watch here until some of these kids grow up and get ahold of the remote. There is also going to be the perennial confusion with Soccer / Football in the US.
From my experience, Soccer is seen primarily as a youth sport. But when you want to bring in the money, turn to Football. I suppose the sport of emphasis varies depending on the specific region of the US. If you've ever seen the movie "Friday Night Lights," you'd see how important Football is to some people. Having lived in Lubbock, Texas, that movie has come the closest to accurately portraying the football attitude of the West Texas region, and by extension, the South. Forget spending school money on books and education, as long as the stadium is big, lit, and well kept, all is good. -monkey
Because drinking alcohol while running around is kinda pointless? You're not gonna get even a buzz so no point in it unless you really love the taste.
