I was wondering if you could make a material with half transperant half not. ANyway if you know how to do this or very easily and quickly make mesh that would be great. Thanks.
Window tint film on Perspex, like car tints? Let's light through omni-directionally, different grades allow different light throughput. First thing that comes to mind. There was a terrific mod on here about six years ago (showing my age) with a clear case and window tint, pure awesomeness.
I was talking about a sketchup material. I need to do somefan grills and somemesh around curves so I don't need to spend hours drawing circles.
Sorry! lol bloody iPhone, sketchy connection and didn't see the sketchup tag beside the post. My appologies!
Hmm I'm not sure you can dude, I only say that as the default "glass brick" google mat that would have used it is transparent even in the grout lines. You could try using some plugins to make your life a lot easier with all the holes?
Can you import a texture with an alpha channel or clipping path into SU? It would work that way. (I doubt it's possible because SU isn't particularly for rendering...)
SU can handle Alpha mapping just done some research and came up with this Clickey Also you can see here that the mapping works on one of the default fencing textures. Hope it helps
I do the same thing with the fencing. i tried drawing modders mesh, but Sketchup has a terrible time handling all of the polygons, and the mesh doesn't look right due to the black outlines of the shapes. I've found that taking the blue fencing material and changing it to black and resizing it is a lot simpler.
