I was trying to use partition magic to resize one of my drives to put vista on as a duel boot, and it kept giving me a error when it would try, so I tried another drive and it froze will doing the operation, I then went to go look at some files and both drives had a red circle with a ? on it, I rebooted in a panic and now the drives are not showing up. The system won't let me go into drive management but I can see them will space taken up in Partion Magic, I click browse and no files show up, I need help really bad I cannot lose the data on these drives. BTW **** PARTITION MAGIC
Sorry to say so, but it's your own fault... ALLWAYS backup important data, and certainly if you are going to mess around with partitions, filesystems,... I never had a bad experience with Partition Magic, but I do have a backup routine. I have had repartitionings gone bad, but I never lost data because of it. You could try some recovery software (search for it on the forum) or try reusing Partition Magic to restore it to the default layout.
Yes I should have backed up my data, but it's not my fault that the application has errors often. Maybe I have a bad version
I've used PM for years - and never had a problem But as above... it wouldn't worry me if I did have problems, because I back everything up before doing any re-partitioning There are a couple of freeware partitioning programs you might want to try: Partition Logic (regularly updated) Cute Partition Manager If you end up having to try and recover the data... try free programs such as Smart NTFS Recovery and SoftPerfect File Recovery, before resorting to more powerful applications which you'll have to pay for (i.e. GetDataBack)
I was able to recover the drives, went into Drive management they were there inactive and with out drive letters, changed that and they came back, thank god.
if its any help, ive used partition magic many times to do this and it worked perfectly, so mabye u have another harware issue that caused this?
