yup.. if it's real metal it will probably short something... try to get hold of some clear tubes that fits tightly over the braiding (and cable)

Not sure about over on that side of the world, but over here at Home Depot (huge DIY store) in the plumbing department they have tubing in sizes all the way up to like 2 inch diameter. So maybe check a local diy store for something like that in the size you need.

Cant you just coat it with lacquer or varnish or something similar to that ?

That way you wont have to spoil the looks by adding a fat tube around it.

You can get the tubing from pet stores. they use it for air pipe. For outdoor ponds.

You will have to post pics when done.... :D

If thats the stuff he got (from whats been said, I guess it isn;t though), then there is no need for tuing or anything because it's nylon (or some other kind of plastic), so it's non-conductive :p

Yeah, the stuff from Kustom is non-conductive:
My pre-made round IDE cables are silver/chrome braid with a clear tubing round the outside and I think they look pretty funky. I'm doing the same thing to my PSU with the braid from Kustom and clear tubing from pet store (I'm pretty sure somebody on BT did this not long ago, it's where I got the idea from)...

if you guys are looking for some good metal stuff for your wires.. look for metal conduit.. stuff is awsome..(think of the stuff Ggnome used in his Orac im still trying to figure out what else i can use this stuff for though. its fairly cheap in the mcmaster - carr catalog if its available Mc-Master - Carr(useful link.. not a spamad) I think it might be in the electrical section.
