65kg is that all? mine was 124kg and that went up to the top floor and down the passage to the front One step at a time as they say ;)

It also helps I have electric winch set up in the loft that goes down the stair well to the ground floor

Methinks Nexxo doesn't have carpeted stairs. Otherwise he would have made do with the old 'push and tilt'.

Edit: Also, You bought a mill? The project is over!:waah:

I suggest you that small tool to help you move it upstairs, and that design matches your lovely case :D

LOL yeah, I really could have done with one of those. Perhaps it will be my next project to build one. :p

The mill was taken upstairs by more conventional methods. It's all set up; I just need to clean it. Then it's time to do some more modding!

    EDIT: here it is:

:thumb: Yeah the cleaning part is a real pain, I've been buying some end mills for the mill and some indexable cutters for the lathe tbh the bits are fairly cheap really.

Those bits are cheap. It's just that you end up collecting so many of them. Rotary tables cost a bundle too.

Ada is fine. It's just work has dialled up the crazy to 11 so I haven't had any time lately. But this weekend I hope to start working on the lid for the pump bottom:

Do you plan to put feet on the bottom?

Does the mill double up as a drill as well Nexxo?

Don't know about feet yet. The obvious place (the four main bottom screws) is not the centre of balance. Possibly a stand.

The mill makes for a really precise and powerful drill as well.

Today I was going to post another update. But unfortunately image upload is broken again... Normal service will resume as soon as possible.

EDIT: meanwhile here's a pic via Flickr:

You wouldn't like it. Not enough tubes (yet!). :p

Looks like image upload is working again. So here's what I did:

This weekend I've been mostly learning about threading on the lathe. It turns out that it is a lot more tricky than I thought. Not only do you have to get diameters (maximum and minimum) right, and the thread pitch, but also the angle of the cut, which of course is restricted by the cutting tools available. As such I probably didn't do the best job at it, but in the end it worked well enough.

First I took another chunk of brass bar:

    And started to shape it...

And here it is bored out, with the ring it is supposed to be screwed into.

The reason being that I want to be able to access the underside of the pump without disassembling the whole PC.

To thread the cover and ring at 2.0 thread pitch I needed to manually change the gears on the lathe that move the saddle along when locked to the worm drive:

And then the threading fun starts. As you can see, I did a decent enough job on the lid, but the ring was not as tidy. The alloy is different and doesn't cut as easily. Still, it was good enough to work...

Next milling the slot in the cover. This is to echo the slot in the bottom of the aquatube.

    And the result in place:

I'm fairly pleased with the result... considering it is on the underside of the device, and therefore will rarely be visible. :p
