I got Metro 2033 in the Black Friday sales on Steam and I'm finding it amazing. I have STALKER and I could never get into it but this allows me to get my dose of Eastern European/Russian accents without confusing me!

I find the atmosphere to be excellent, stand out moment so far would be the tunnel full of ghosts. Using shadows in an already dark environment is a great idea, especially as they only become obvious when you shine your light on them.

Reviews that I've seen say it's a bit too linear and that the level design limits it, I disagree. CoD games get away with being on rails and having respawning bad guys so this can easily get away with it as it's nowhere near as tightly scripted, plus it has a believable story. I also think they've done a fairly good job of dealing with the limited space of metro tunnels as a game environment, if anything it makes the game more tense.

Oh and the graphics are epic :D Awesome shaders and textures.

So yeah, what do the rest of you think of it?

It has to be my favorite game a played through this year. I love the struggle for ammo the whole time.
The only thing i don't like it that you don't make enough of your decisions, and the ammo used as cash is kind of pointless as you just pick up the better guns as you go along anyways.
take your time to explore around finding secret places, If you do it will give you the ability to have two separate endings.

I've played a few hours since I bought it in the sale, it's tough! Enemies come in large gangs, and destroy lonely me :(

I've just got to the Nazi/Reds frontline under the train.

Yeah played it, I thought it was ok but as said a bit linear for my taste.

But at that price worth buying.

I'm looking forward to playing this too.

But I really enjoyed playing STALKER earlier this year.

I played it once, then modded it and played it again.

    What a difference!

I played the 2009 mod - now there's a 2010. So it may even be worth playing again. :)

Bit meh for me finding it far too linear for my tastes i would have at least thought the cities would have had more to explore an possibly a few sidequests.
