is there any where other than Rapid that stock the mic502 Pulse width modulation IC (england) as Rapid dotn have them at the moment. ive made a circuit using a couple of 555's but its big and has over modulaion issues, the micrel chip would solve this prob methinks.

    Email winging your way

Back on topic, I've just finished a PWM controller using a LM324 and IRF530, works just as well as the MIC502 I've built, though it's lacking the fancy jump-start and sleep features. Should have construction details up soon.

    edit: Now up

I was able to order one (ok bought two) MIC502BN from Newark for 2.12 USD. Ther are US based but will sell to hobbist.
I did complete the full (sleep, temo sensor) PWM circuit and am happy with it except it doesn't seem to be very sensitive ?????

    Part number: 05C4624

id forgotten id asked this, thanks to all who answered, managed to fix overmodulation (part of the problem was none of the potentiometers at college are anywhere near there quoted value, 10k was more like 12.5K!!) in case anyone is interested ill try to post the circuit somtime soon.

Most pot specs are +/-20% tolerance, makes it nasty to design potential dividers like on the MIC502 or my LM324 circuit. :grr: :wallbash:
