I have acquired a standard Gen 8 Microserver, but unlike the Gen 7 I have it sin't POSTing.

I have replaced a flat BIOS battery and removed the second stick of RAM, but it still is unhappy.

When plugged in, the green light on the power button flashes and if I press it to start the server, the fan spins for a few seconds and the power light goes amber, along with the lower LED bar light flashing red.

Anyone got any relevant experience with this?

I read something about flipping a DIP switch and power cycling, but not sure about this

Log in to ILO and see what the messages show?
As long as the light is amber you should be able to get in to ilo

Plug that nic in to your network then log in to the IP the ILO has from another computer

Thanks, I will give that a go. I read somewhere you could find the IP from the BIOS, but can't even get that far.
Looking forward to a new load of learning

    ilo is fairly straight forwards.
Go to the webpage, log in (username & password is on the tag on the server usually), then there will be pages with health, remote control etc

And you should be able to find the IP assigned to the ILO controller in your router’s DHCP leases page.
