Good job Microsoft never screw up any updates isn't it, otherwise something like this could end up disabling millions of webcams or something. ;)

    Inclusive of Window Server? Hmm.

That strikes me as something that isn't going to catch on.

I guess they were really, really upset about all the people who turned off the Windows 10 update. Better safe than sorry....

What i find worrying are the amount of people who've just turned of Windows updates altogether because of Microsoft's rather hostile approach, when you're more worried about getting unwanted patches than you are from being exploited maybe it's time to reassess things.

I'd already turned off automatic updates (Win 7 and 8.1) and got into the habit of researching each individual update. Occasionally one will stuff up my wireless printer driver and my mini PC has had the wifi connection stuffed on numerous occasions so they get hidden straight away now.

I've not upgraded to Windows 10 because it only needs MS to decide they'll no longer support a particular feature on older systems and they could make my PCs non-functional.

These rollup patches introduce a similar risk and I won't be installing any until at least a month has passed and no adverse affects are reported and take my chances in the meantime.

Oh good. Now I'll have to do a fresh install every month.

Even more ammunition for people advising turning off WU functionality permanently on pre-10 versions. For business it'll be nothing short of suicidal.

Good work MS I hope it'll hurt you even more than billions of people who couldn't give a ... about Disaster10. No more WU for me since whole GWX farce begun.

But isn't the whole GWX issue a thing of the past now that win10 is no longer a free update?

And yeah, roll up folks, that patch KB 28253387 that's gonna bork your system is now unavoidable!

It's not just the GWX addware that had people disabling WU, from what i can tell it's also all the extra telemetry features Microsoft back-ported to previous versions.

I just turned WU back on a couple weeks ago. Might be time to kill it for good.
