Y'know this all sounds great, but I reckon taste is really subjective. I would have to try them all out and decide which one's the best.

I mean, y'know, I also just want to test the quality. *ahem* It's not like I want to stuff my face. *ahem* It's PURELY from a scienfic point of view. And I'm sure I might not be the only one doing that.

Nice roundup. My favourite right now are the ones with icing on the top which are £1.10 for 6 in Sainsbury's. I'm not really fussy otherwise but it's good to know where to go for some quality pies. :D

Great roundup in annual bit-tech tradition. Shame the Waitrose one's came out on top though :( Living in the north means a 60 mile round trip is necessary to grab some of those pies!

Always fun this is, if for no other reason than to confuse the hell out of all our non UK readers, who look on aghast and in disgust at sweetened meat pies..:))

Re-affirming their stereotypical view on British grub..:))

I guess I'll have to take a trip to Selfridges to get some pies to match my current PC. An expensive pleasure :)

I thought the time-honoured and traditional way of overclocking a Mince pie was through the use of mulled wine and other alcoholic beverages.

As i read this ive just eaten a Tesco deep filled mince pie. So i may as well add my review about this one as its not been posted on the article. Here goes!

Biting into the pie was a relief, not too crumbly as it held together well minus the odd few crumbs. It claims to be a deep filled mince pie but in reality it falls into the "little bit more than we normally put in". You'd expect a deep filled pie to have the pastry on top bulging upwards to accommodate the extra mince, yet across all 6 in this pack there's a clear sagging inwards effect. A slightly chewy mix inside proves abit of an oddity and the flavour is pretty standard - and by no means is going to blow anyone away. The pastry seems very sweet (coming from a sweet-toothed person) and unfortunately also pretty flavour-less and dry. Overall an average pie for a reasonable price but boasted as a DFMP doesn't really make it any better than it is; Standard!
