It's a gimmick. The joy with Lego is being able to make toys that you don;t have from it. Lego games are very well made "spoofs" and very enjoyable. Virtual lego online? Not sold on that one... Mind you, minecraft doesn;t appeal to me either, so I'm very likely the wrong demographic.

I don't see the point of this for users of either lego or minecraft.

I think you've got this exactly backwards: LEGO isn't making a Minecraft-themed computer game (a la LEGO Batman or LEGO Indiana Jones) - it's making Minecraft-themed physical plastic LEGO sets that you buy in shops.

The big advantage of Minecraft over Lego is that it is virtual, can be hidden easily from Family and Friends, you never run out of Blocks, its a one time purchase...

Making Minecraft themed Lego removes all those advantages Minecraft has over Lego, while some will buy it just cause Minecraft has been hyped like stupid by media I doubt Minecraft themed Lego will be a big commercial success.

So it's, what? A big bag of 2x2 blocks in earth tones?

I'm with Anfield, this sounds like it's Minecraft hype clouding people's vision. I can only imagine what truly awesome CUUSOO applicants lost to this.

I've never played Minecraft, but I have a large collection of LEGO sets, mostly Star Wars themed. I could see how someone who is a fan of Minecraft would like to have LEGO sets based on some of the more popular designed structures within the game.

Personally, I'm more interested in the upcoming Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit themed LEGO sets that are due out this year.

I wonder what a lego creeper would look like ?

Come to think of it, the animals would be pretty cute

    Erm.... I understood that..... honest!

Oh, all right then I misread it.

    100% the wrong way round.

My goof. Thank you for clarifying.

Sorry folks... nothing to see here. Move on.

In response to the articles actual intent - eh? What a pointless idea. Now you can design something online, and now build it. I'm almost certain that this is something LEGO allowed you too do anyway when you design one of their "custom" kits online. Wonder if they will simply adding the Minecraft bricks to that system or whetehr there will be a close tie in through the Minecraft installer software...

I'm definitely the wrong demographic. My godson might like it though as he's mad for Minecraft at the moment. I await developments...

    old joke is old.

i would buy a set of minecraft legos, but only in the same sense i would buy any other game-related swag. i dont see these sets lasting long on the market. itll probably be a "limited time offer because after all the people like me have their sets, sales will fall.
