Linux Minecraft; Official Bit-tech server

Still getting complete system freezes/crashes when playing MC and watching Simpsons.

Very strange, as I can play C&C3 and watch videos with no freezes, only seems to be MC.

 

Minecraft is far more unopti....complex than C&C3

I can't watch any video without my pc crashing while playing mine craft. it demands your full attention!

what os are you on?
i get video driver crashes all the time if i do anything but play minecraft. amd 6950 video card.
not the latest drivers though. maybe ill try an update. i assumed it has to do with the game. could be wrong.

 

i must be one of the lucky ones. MC has nearly zero stability issues on my machine. i can play any media, serf the web, or play any other games while MC is running with no problems. the only problem ive had is that since beta, ive lost the ability to stabily run two clients at once...so no more hanging out in both servers

Panomama, i popped on your server for a few minutes tonight. id say either you were going for a "retro modern" theme, or youve been griefed. the backpack mod is really neat though, that would be super handy on the creative server for sure.

 

Is anyone ever on the 1.3 server? Or are we all sticking to the 1.2 server? Or maybe I am missing something really important...

Win 7 x64 SP1 with latest nvidia drivers and Java 6.

 

affirmative rob. both XM's survival server and the Multiplay creative server are on 1.3.

 

Oh... So who should I PM to get the survival server IP?

Unfortunately i'm still your best shot at the survival server but you're weirding me out more and more for some reason.

 

what is the backpack mod wicked sludge mentioned? are there mods that i can be running? what about texture packs? will they work on the survival server? or will it cause problems?

 

Im currently using a hi res texture pack (64x64) and im not having any problems, Im assuming game mods have to be run from the server side not client? I could be wrong though.

 

Maybe I'm weirding you out because I make the effort to spell your name correctly?

 

chris, the backpack mod that panomama is running increases your inventory by 5 (i think) times. you use the scroll wheel on your mouse while crouching to scroll through different inventory panes.

there are all kinds of client side mods that you can run. until the 1.3 update, i was running a high def texture pack and a minimap. 1.3 broke both and i havnt bothered to fix them yet. the minimap was incredibly awesome though and i think it should be a part of the base game.

no amount of client-side mods will effect the server since it only modifies your client.

 

good to know. i looked at some texture packs the other night and some were well done. a few of the ones that i went to download took me to pay/scam sites. is there a good/safe site where i can find some good texture packs?

 

the HD pack i was using is listed on the MC wiki. its a bit of a pain to install, but looks awesome.
