Linux Minecraft; Official Bit-tech server

Malvolio could you enlighten me on how to get to the BT server? Won't physically do anything (still getting to grips on the SP side) just want to have a wander. Thanks.

First go to the BlockJunkies website and sign up.

Then in your Minecraft client click Multiplayer, then Add Server. Name can be anything you want, but for Server Address type in:

two.blockjunkies.co.uk

Hit done, then just double click on the server entry and you should join! If the server rejects you at first it is simply because the database on the blockjunkies website takes a little while to update, so it can take a little bit before you're "whitelisted", but be patient and give it time As a note, new people to the server aren't allowed to use multiworld (to help contain griefing), so you'll only be able to wander around the guest world at first, but there is still lots to explore and interact with there! We have many regulars that play on the guest world, so don't worry. If you stick about long enough you'll get promoted to a purple (or "trusted") member and be able to visit the other worlds that most of the regulars play and collaborate on.

Also, I'm tempted to do a bit of a game within the game, if anybody would be interested. What I'm thinking of would be a series of signs with clues on, one leading to the next type thing, and at the end would be a chest with a prize or two in. To find the next sign you would have to work out the clues and/or solve the riddle, sometimes it would lead you to an exact set of coords, sometimes it would just give you a general area of the world with a landmark so specified, tasking you with finding the next clue/riddle. Just sort of wondering if something like this would be interesting to others or not, and if so I'll probably get started sketching out and implementing my plan this week

 

Ah.. ..you mean like Geocaching? Not a bad idea, though maybe not for me, but I've been wronged before.

 

Yeah, just like geochaching, but more scavenger hunt/puzzle orientated as I've done a bit of geochaching before and just jumping from point to point can get old after a while (if the cache isn't well hidden, anyway).

Only the SMP server is running atm. I don't know what happened to the non-bj Bit-tech Creative server.

 

Hey guys, is there any place left for me and my megalomaniacal plans in there? I'll wander around a bit at first an see what you guys are up to, but i think this is exactly the vanilla survival server i am looking for to do some building in

I'll be on at some weird hours, hope that's not a problem to get myself whitelisted for the right worlds at some point. Oh well, I'll see tonight i guess, i'll try to convince my crappy home connection to get me online in a few hours

Is there anyone I should speak to in particular or anything I should look out for from the start?

I did find the serverinfo btw, so no worries there. All I need is to get back up to speed with the new stuff, i quit playing all the way back in 0.7.3

 

Why can't I update minecraft? the update always stalls when downloading files. I tried deleting minecraft and installing it. same problem. anyone else deal with this?

 

The server has just crashed.

EDIT: Scrap that, back up and running again.

 

That tends to happen every now and then..
My guess is that XM is allready on it, and is planning for something cool to make the crashes go away..

Oh, and the lagfest at my house at spawn (world18) continues - if anyone finds out why, please tell me (or rather tell us all) so it can be fixed. There is also a place close to NetherSpawn (New Nether) that has similar issues..
There's a special price waiting for those who find out why, and helps it getting fixed

 

Guys I worked out yesterday that to finish my new castle I will need in the region of 1400 stacks of cobblestone, so if anybody has some spare they don't mind me nicking, I would be very grateful

edit: on a completely unrelated note... *shifty eyes* the NPC village looks AMAZING! Awesome work guys

 

Remember that chest that I have unlocked for you at my house. I will attempt to keep it full up of cobblestone, and you are free to take as much as you need. I will also be digging out a third spawn floor, so my cobble storage should go through the roof anyway.

 

Bogo, there is still a double chest of cobble for you in my storage silo (jungle). Please feel free to raid this if you need. I'll try to keep it full as well, as that tower of yours looks rather promising.

Been away for a few days due to real life issues (13 hour shift on Friday, 12 hour shift Saturday, and a group ride/protest for a few hours today), but I must say: you people are sick



That's just cruel!

Anyway, I've been trying desperately to get myself a pick or shovel with silk touch, but despite an entire double chest full of enchanted tools I've not had any luck. As far as I know there is no minimum XP level for silk touch so it's just a matter of luck, but I guess I don't have any. If somebody does have such I'd happily buy it off them for a good few diamonds I have some sneaky plans I do
