why do mini itx boards have built on cpu's I want to make a mini pc with a mini itx board but those cpu's that are built on are so slow, do they have ones that you can change the cpu like a normal atx
You could always go for a Mini-atx. Not as small as m-itx. But at least you can change the CPU. Try here Linky Just search for matx you will find two there... or this one from ASUS .
There was a thread a day or two ago about this. There are pentium 4 mini-itx boards, but no AGP slot as far as I'm aware. Have a look here. Fourth one down.
mATX actually stands for microATX not mini, btw. there are indeed miniITX p4 boards. i've not seen amd ones yet, although heat would probably be an issue (then again fast p4s arent much better these days)
Heh. Yeah, that was my thread. Still looking for a micro ATX with onboard video and Digital sound. As for that Asus one, there is actually a better one out now. Same size but is a minuature of the A7N8X. Can use a 400 mhz FSB processor, still has everything built on, has GF4 too, not sure if the 266 has GF2 or GF4. Anyway, its a little bit better.
What model is that ASUS one??? Sounds interesting.... **EDIT** I've found it, it's the A7N8X-VM isn't it??
We have the Insight P4-ITX Mini ITX that takes your standard P4 CPU's and the cases to go ITX Warehouse - Specialist online retailer of Mini ITX products
Board I'm using: Commell LV-670LVDS (Intel 845GV and ICH4 Chipset) Machine it's being used in: It's available in the US from http://www.caseoutlet.com http://www.checkercube.com or in the UK from http://www.ultim8pc.co.uk and it ain't cheap. $249 each. But man, the onboard features are insanely good.
I didn't read the whole thread, kinda lazy at the moment, but if you want a mini-itx board that you can change the processor with heres a p4 board that you can http://www.mini-itx.com/store/default.asp?c=2#p261 its at the bottom, heres a lil pic.
Shuttle motherboards are slightly different to ITX boards and are a lot harder to get hold of on their own without being part of a Shuttle barebones system. -Sam
actually they ate itx boards and quite easy to get with out being in a bbsystem, try a dist like ingram with the htpc's I have sold I used fv-24 boards and they were not expensive it is the same board sold in the sv-24 (which is not available now) but amd and p4 boards are readily out there
Yeah, but the machine I built with this board can fit inside a shuttle barebones and the machine itself weighs several pounds less. And in my opinion it has far more features and is more reliable.
