    Looking....Claustrophobic. :D
You need to add some washers under all your screws to avoid the twist damage.
Fun idea: You could add filler putty to the parts you wrap to change their shape.

    GPU modding

This case is so tight that when I decided to watercool the GPU I knew it would create problems. A normal block would over hang the card and foul the rad. Now luckily the only blocks available are the universal ones, so I fitted one of these along with some heat sinks to the other components.

The other problem is once the rad is on there is no way to get to the back of the GPU.
So I had a little idea.

I had always intended to make a back plate so what I have done is to extend it and also create a loop for the GPU. Not only does it mean I no longer have to fiddle about behind the card it keeps everything else nice and ne tidy.

Ignore the colour of the tubing, that's just there for testing purposes. Not that it would matter it's going to be hidden.

What do you reckon guys ?

I forgot to add them to the CPU block /plate. It's got scratched and will be redone anyway. That will take all of 10 mins to do... If my memory stretches that far I will remember to put them in..:D

That's a pretty slick solution to the problem Jeff! Kudos to you for being creative with the hardware you have, instead of just purchasing new stuff that fits better! :thumb:

Thanks . It keeps everything neat and tidy as well. Plus I have to work with what I have. No sponsors or big budgets on this build

I assume you removed the original backplate to use as a template? I have been looking for a reference GTX 980 backplate template to save me removing the original first.

It never had one. I made that out of some plexi from scratch. Dead easy. Make it the correct size and then because it's clear lay it on top and mark the holes , job done.:dremel:

I want to do it without removing the existing one until I am ready to fit the new which will be white.

That will mean making a template first. If it was clear you could have done it the same way I did. Unless you have a bit of clear scrap that you could use .

I do have scrap clear as it happens. But how will that help me as I still need to get size and shape preferably without removing the existing backplate.

Doing it while it's still in the rig will be almost impossible.

Jeff can I remove the backplate then replace and use the card whilst I attempt to make a new one?

Edit: Sorry I am hogging your thread. I will make my own on this.

Glen that's not a problem, I am happy to help if I can.
I would say pulling it out and taking it off is the best way and as you say, put the card back in.

Thank a lot . This build has been quite easy. The hardest part is getting everything to fit. I have had a dry run this morning (pics to follow soon) and it all fits snuggly but nicely.

I had my lian Li open this morning. It was like a walk in wardrobe compared to this thing.:D

Had a dry fit and it It all fits.. wooooohooooo:clap::clap::clap::clap:

I've still got quite a lot to do. But the hardest bit is done now.

I have the option of fitting more fans at the front or a window ( told you I was making it up as I go along).

Tubing will be changed to blue. I want to get some lighting in there, so will have to have a look what's laying about.

And cable management, oh joy:waah::waah:. One thing is for sure, everything that need to be connected behind the GPU will have to be done before I fill the loop.

Here's a few pics of where it's at now.
