You only need one GTX580 on a 27" Display. I have a 30" Display and my GTX580 destroys everything i throw at it, GTA4, World in Conflict, Crysis/Crysis 2. Sam
What about this? £1200 and it should destroy everything you throw at it. The motherboard doesn't support SLi but you won't want 580's SLi'd in a matx case. You shouldn't need SLi anyway.

I'll not be paying tax and free shipping so this is well below budget at £976. My budget was around £1500 before tax. I really like the black PCB of the z68 gigabyte boards. Also prefer corsair ax psu as all the cables are black. Corsair vengeance ram is defo not the look im going for. Hate the design. A reference gtx 580 would exhaust air out the rear so preferable if I go sli
I'm probably a penny pinching misery scrooge but on the right day you can easily get 2x1TB Spinpoint F3's for less than that 2TB WD (probably only about 6-7 quid but a saving is a saving ) other than that i'd be extremely happy to have that build there sir. Looks very tasty.
Was trying to get a single drive to use with 40gb intel SSD utilising smart response. No idea if you can use multiple HDD with single SSD ?
Might I suggest this case? Lian-Li PC-V354B Take out the bottom HDD cage, fit the rad + fan from a Corsair H60 in place of the bottom front fan, pair it with a Sapphire 5850 Extreme and you have the start of a great machine. The case has USB 3.0 and a built-in fan controller.
*Facepalm* Good point, moving right along Although i would be fairly sure that that price could be beaten for a 2TB HDD.
Really like the define R3 case and happy that's it's not a full size tower. Nvidia would be my only choice for the graphics.
Out of interest, why are you so hung up upon the looks of the stuff, if you then insist on getting a case with no window? Unless he has the side panel off regularly no-one's going to see it? My 2 cents thrown in, I'd build an MATX rig based around an i5 2500K, 8GB RAM, Asus P67M-Pro (or Z68 equivalent), a GTX580 and a decent sound card (Xonar D2?), then stick it all in a Da Box 100. That won't dominate the room at all - no more than a large shoebox really. Should come in at less than £1000 without VAT.
