Some updates on the some of the small jobs that I've been doing. Lots of little things and just tying up loose ends

First up is the front mudguard, I'd originally planned to put a ROG logo there, but on second thoughts I thought that it's taking away some attention from the guys that actually sponsored the build ...so I chose something non-PC related and used a Ducati Course shield. The paint finish is a blue flake over the white ... I'm glad I done this small part first as I just don't think that finish all over the body work would look right ... It's ok for the mudguard.

Next up is the fans, I'm going for the 80mm Cooler Master ones... had a big hunt around and found these items, I like these as they're different than the usual generic design of the shrouds that most fans use

These were given a dusting with blue flake just to make the matt black a bit more interesting...
    SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

I have now got the RAM, I'm going with Corsair Dominators, Nice understated design and they'll give out some subtle lighting around the M'board

Really like these, but tricky to find the right ones .... Had to check the Vendor list in the ASUS manual

    Next up is the dash...

I made a template to fit the curve inside the nose cone, difficult to get right and found it easier to fold the card in half, so that it kept both sides equal.

The display was torn down to its basic screen and I made a template of that too. This was to get the holes in the right place .. eventually the template was transfered onto the acrylic and cut out

    Here's how it turned out

and with the display on ....

It just needs fitting to the bike now ... getting closer :)

OOPS nearly forgot about this photo,

I've revised the loop around the M'board and also fitted the break out point, the tray has been painted and lacquered and also I have started to look at the last bit of cabling. I'm using some clips that keep all the lines nice and tidy, those clips will be stuck onto a bracket and will keep them all in place.
Also the ram has been slotted in :)

That fan glitter mania makes me chuckle. I can't help it. :hehe: Reminds me of some very wrong times back in the beginning of the millennium

What's that black angle fitting you have there between the pump(?) and the gpu? Looks way handy.

The fan does look a bit 70's :D, I didn't want to mess about with them to much, just alter their appearance. There's just enough so that you can see them through the frame.

The fitting is from SwiftTech it's one of those 90 degree bendy thingys .. reasonably priced compared to other brands ;)

Cheers Hukkel, I'm in the middle of fitting it, just waiting for the epoxi to cure.

Thanks man, There can't be to many more updates to come ....it's sooo close :thumb:

Looks like M.2 SSDs will be on the market within the month. :)

Nice to see I'm not the only man in Southampton with a screwy sleep cycle. :D

Mine is student inflicted. "I'll just have an afternoon nap before starting on these thermodynamics problems" leads to waking up at 1am. :duh:

Where do you do a night shift?

There really aren't enough 17cm GPUs, are there? No waterblock for the Asus GTX 670 mini and the GTX 760s all seem to use ~24cm boards. While that's fine for mATX it does lead to some problems with high end M-ITX boards. :wallbash:

Zotac has a short 760 and I know there to be others. The board is tiny underneath the long stock cooler and comes down a lot when you stick an ek block on it. :)

I work in a brewery :naughty: Beer taster, brewing technician ... that thing you're thinking ? it's exactly like that :D

Mini ITX does have a lil way to go yet to be the compact powerhouse that it could be ... it's very nearly there, it's just those pesky giant graphics cards that let the side down

The other thing about the 760's is the power connectors, (2 x 6pin) why it needs so much power ...
    Go figure :wallbash:

Just out of curiosity (I know I have been away for a while) how much did the cuts for the GPU's effect the strength of the frame?

    Great progress looks really good.

    Cheers Mechh

I've been sat on the bike with no signs of flex, the tubes support each other, before cutting I made sure that I'd be supported by something else. The strength of the frame would have been effected, but I have a sneaky suspicion that the frame was designed for looks rather than calculated and engineered for strength.
