Hi guys, i just wanted to share my recently finished mini p180 project, any comments / suggestions / questions welcome !

this is where i wanted to go:

    ( render created with sketchup - 3dsmax - maxwell render )

and this is how it finally worked out :D

U can find more renders / build pics in my galleries if anyones interested.

    the rig runs a q6600 at 3.45 ghz and the 4870x2 sits at 790 / 915 ( Asus top bios )
Its stable and even under the heaviest loads really quiet.

thanks mate :) i had to cut many corners in the modding process because i couldnt source the right stuff ( for example the hex mesh has much larger "hexes" than i wanted and, the worst thing the black tinted 3mm plexi was just a centimeter short of being big enough for the whole panel, so i had to cut strips) when ium finally back in europe ill try to build a "ghetto" cnc and order the stuff i really wanted and give this whole thing a second try, then with a white mini p180 :)

why so many fans i wonder...

Very nice build though. I saw the render and was praying that you didn't build it and were just having fun with rendering so that i wouldn't feel bad if i stole some ideas... now i will though

    Oh well! haha

hehehe, i reckon u have to mention me in ur worklog then ;)
the amount of fans is nessesary because of the low speed they are running at ( and thereby low noise ) i could have gotten away with just one fast front intake and maybe two fast fans on the gfx, but that would have added noise, a thing i didnt want to have ;)
I think it worked out really good, considering the huge amount of money i saved by not moving to water, for this system i would have needed 2x 240 rads which would have used 4 nocs aswell ( one for the gpu and one for cpu + chipset ) so my system is now a little bit louder than under water and i cant clock stable to 3,6 which would be no problem with water cooling i think.
but that are really no huge drawbacks considering watercooling would have atleadst cost me another 800 - 1000 E all in all.

thats why there are so many fans :D

The fans must have cost more than the case!

Really nice job though, must be supremely silent. :)

    let me calculate 4x29 + 3x28 = 200 AUD for the fans
Case 160 AUD... lol i didnt realise that ;) funny ( if u take the v8 and the arctic freezer into account aswell its even more ;)

there is a worklog over at ocau, but it stopped it at some point because noone cared :(

    detailed specs are

    4 gig corsair 1066 ddr2
asus p5e vm hdmi ( really great board, only drawback the sata ports, sitting straight in the way of the gfx and a pencil mod is a must do )
4870x2 (generic dont remember the brand )
    q6600 g0 @ 3,45
corsair hx620w ( love that psu aswell, nice color, really quiet )
    2x 500gb samsungs in raid 0
4 chan fan controller ( have to replace it, it makes the noctuas sqeual, any suggestions for a good fan controller ? )
northbridge cooler with intel generic cpu fan on it :)

most of the worklog pics are hosted here in my galleries aswell.

yes thats the one, otherwise the vdroop on this board is just too high to get a stable oc far from 3,0ghz
