miniG5ized Hello all. Well here is my latest project called miniG5ized. If you can`t tell from the title I`m minimizing a G5 case. I`m making it so it can fit an MATX mobo, atx psu, full optical drive and three hdds. Also did I mention it will be watercooled. For those of you that don`t know me since this is my first project log at bit-tech here are some mods i have completed. Soldam revamped. Ecube. Now that you know me a little bit better here are the specs of miniG5ized. MSI-RS480M2 mobo FX57 x850xt pe 2gb ocz Ultra Xconnect psu Pioneer DVDrw 2x 120 gb samsung hdds 1x 160 gb samsung hdd Watercooling: 2x c-system mag pumps Aqua Computer Cuplex XT CPU block Alphacool mosfet coolers Alphacool bga coolers GFX Alphacool NexXxoS GPX for gpu Angel eye window res HTF3 Single 80 rad Enought chit chat. Here are the pics Here is how the inside of the case will be setup with the parts. I will have the optical facing up. I`m going to move that stealth thing the case has to the top. I will then put a fan controller in the empty slot left behind. Also to the right of the optical I`m creating an acrylic enclosure to duct air to the rad and to exhaust the air out the top. It will have two 120mm aluminum sanyo denki fans. One on top and one on the bottom. The cube enclosure will be a duct attaching the fans to the rad. I will use aluminum fan adapters to adapt the 120mm fans to the enclusure which will be 80mm. The rad will be in between somewhere. The hardrives will go right below the optical. I will be able to fit three of them. The chrome fan is there to represent how thick the enclosure will be and to see how close it will come to the video card. Here it is being cut down. Done. The leftovers This is the cover G5 uses to stealth their drives. It very nice. Instead of being a flap that swings down it slides down. Very clean. This is where it is going now. Till next time.
haaaa nice, they are probably on ebay if he was smart about it...other than that the case had it comin'
who cares about mac software and hardware. i'll only buy a mac if windows can run on it and i can only if the hardware is replaced
The top and bottom sections of the case will have windows as will the sides. The plexi will have screw holes attaching both sections together. There will also be hidden metal brackets to reinforce it. Still haven't decided how to attach the front and back together. The innards are somewhere. Nothing special so they will be trashed. TTmodder please keep this thread on topic. Noone ever mentioned mac and windows in the same sentence. Please stay on topic and keep this thread clean.
I hate to say it but I would of figured out how I was going to reattach the sections before I started cutting.
Poor mac case. snif snif. Will follow this, your previous projects look pretty good, so I'm sure this will be worth following. Good luck! L
Planning? What's that? For real though I have ideas of how to attch the front pieces but I still want to keep the front semi stock looking. More than likely I'm leaning towards the idea of adding a very small window of plexi to bind the front two pieces together. I already know how I'm gonna attach the top two pieces and bottom two. DickH, I still haven't bought the acrylic. I'll do that monday morning. The air duct system for the rad will be made out of the same acrylic I use for the window.
enough about the case and its supposed misfortune. if anything i think he is doing that hunk of metal a favor by putting PC hardware in it. (yeah yeah i know what i said and thats my opinion and no one is going to change it.) aside from the random mac rants and cries of dispair for the case ON WITH THE MOD!! i want more pictures. BTW do you mind shareing where you got the case from because i have been trying to get my hands on one of those for Months. they are hard to get without paying $$$$ just for the case. anyhow more power to ya!!
I can't stand teh Apple...but I have to admit that I gasped when I saw that case sliced up like a fresh pizza pie. Mamma Mia! Good luck on the mod, I like the idea.
I got the case from ebay, $70 shipped. It had a small dent on one of the feet but it was easily fixable. Wow I didnt know I would make so many people sad because I cut this case. Yes its beautiful but its too big. I`m into small cases and I loved the look of the G5 so it was something I had to do. If I just left the case stock and put my hardware in it that wouldnt be a mod.
relax it's just a mac most of pc games and programs cant be runned on mag so mac to pc conversion should be standard
